In a recent interview, Nora Fatehi opened up about her struggling days and recalled how she used to hon her dancing skills while working at a hookah bar.
Popular actress, Nora Fatehi is the queen of belly dancing in Bollywood, and she has been winning our hearts with her bold moves on peppy tracks. Despite having no godfather in the industry, Nora went on to become one of the highest-paid dancers in the entertainment industry. From participating in dance reality shows to becoming a well-known judge on TV, Nora has come a long way. However, the road to success was not an easy one for her, as she had her fair share of ups and downs.
In an interview with BBC Asian Network, Nora Fatehi opened up about the sacrifices and the struggles she faced on her way to stardom. She revealed that she did a number of odd jobs to make ends meet. However, to reach the level of stardom where she is today, Nora had to miss out on a lot in her twenties as she was busy working for her future. Talking about the same, she said:
“Whatever opportunities I have got have been very last minute and thankfully I was prepared. I wouldn’t go out and socialise and party like all the other girls did and have a boyfriend. I’d lock myself in a room every day, learn the language, watch TV and practice in my room. I missed out on my brother’s wedding, his birthday, everything. So many people were like, ‘you want to be like the next Katrina Kaif?'"

Nora Fatehi used to work in a hookah bar back in her struggling days. However, when she was asked about how she managed to learn the body language of an actor while working in a shisha lounge, Nora said that she used to hon her dancing skills at her job. She said:
“It’s a thing. You just pick up a shisha, just like, ‘Here’s your shisha, how is it? Yes!’ It’s not a ‘Oh, you need me. Alright cool, I’m here'."
Nora Fatehi recently set the stage on fire with her dance performance on the veteran actress, Helen's songs. Reflecting on the same, the actress revealed that she watched Helen's videos multiple times before taking over the stage and studied the minute details about the actress. She shared:
“I really studied all her videos properly, even the breathing spaces of the shoulder movements, the hands and just the aura! I had to be feminine, I had to be poised, I had to be very flirty and I had to own it.”

In the same interview, Nora Fatehi also revealed that she will be honoured if she gets a chance to play Helen in the latter’s biopic if it is ever made. Mentioning that she could relate to Helen for several reasons, the actress shared that they both were introduced to the world through dance. She added:
“I mean if the filmmakers ever think of me, because I feel like we have so many similarities. She came from a different country, I did, it was tough for both of us, we were introduced to the world through dance and that too in a different genre of dance. We changed what dance meant in cinema… If anyone would need to embody that and really show what that emotion is, I think I would really be able to connect with that."
