We bring to you an NRI-bride, who had sported the same ‘Dil Guldasta’ lehenga as Deepika Padukone’s and looked every bit of gorgeous! Decide and tell us who sported it better.
Admit it or not, we all love weddings (be it our own or someone else’s)! Preparations and the ecstasy that follows, begin from months to come and thus, starts the biggest worry of the world, “What do I wear?” Thanks to celebrity designers and celebrities themselves, who have time and again shared with the world about how to be a head-turner at parties. Especially for the newbie or soon-to-be brides in here, here’s some major cue! It is soon going to be a year that Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been married and every look of the couple from their zillion wedding reception still makes us drool in wonderment. Coming back to the very question of “Who doesn’t love celebrity weddings!”, it was on October 21, 2018, when an official statement confirming Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding had taken the world by a storm. And thus, their wedding took place on November 14-15, 2018, with an array of wedding receptions for various sets of people that had followed thereafter. And it was on one of the wedding receptions, hosted by Ranveer’s sister, Ritika Bhavnani wherein, we saw Deepika in a never-seen avatar. Clad in a flowery Sabyasachi Mukherjee wear, the designer had written, “@deepikapadukone head-to-toe in Sabyasachi for her post-wedding celebrations.”
And now, we bring to you another bride, who sported the same ‘Dil Guldasta’ lehenga as Deepika Padukone’s and looked every bit of gorgeous! NRI-bride, Riya Patel had looked ethereal in the same lehenga and green polki jewellery from Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s collection and juxtaposing her and Deepika’s look, it is actually difficult for us to come to a conclusion as to who had looked better! Sharing the first-ever look of Riya, Sabyasachi had written, “Real bride Riya Patel @riyap in Sabyasachi for her wedding in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, California. Jewellery by: @sabyasachijewelry Photo Courtesy: @milighosh Makeup by @makeupbybrookehill Hair by @georgefrag1 Location Courtesy: National Golf Course, Palos Verdes, California Wedding planned by @eleganteventsllc”, coupling it with an array of hashtags, which read “#Sabyasachi #BridesOfSabyasachi #SabyasachiBride #PalosVerdes #LosAngeles #California #DreamWedding #DestinationWedding #SabyasachiJewelry #TheWorldOfSabyasachi @bridesofsabyasachi.”
Her hubby, Ankur Patel, who was also a Sabyasachi Mukherjee groom looked dapper, clad in green from head to toe. Sharing a picture, the ace designer had penned, “Real groom Ankur Patel @ankee1 in Sabyasachi for his wedding in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, California. We were also mesmerised to see how beautifully, Riya Patel had accessorised her look in green-coloured jewellery, which included her heavy choker neckpiece, maang teeka, round-studded earrings and absolute plain green bangles, which had matched her hubby’s attire! Both Sabyasachi and Riya had posted elegant yet fun pictures from her and Ankur’s baraat and wedding. Check out all of them below:
In an interview with the Vogue magazine, the beautiful bride, Riya Patel had revealed what drew her towards the same flowery wedding lehenga as Deepika Padukone’s. She shared, “It was love at first sight! I was drawn to the lehenga the minute it released. What I adore about this lehenga is that it is uniquely unprecedented. It has a flowy summer feel to it, encapsulated with a sense of glamour and a sheen of prestige. The floral patchwork mixed with a sheer dupatta is illustrious, and I was honoured to wear such a piece."
Talking about her exquisite jewellery, Riya Patel further shared, “While searching for jewellery to pair with my lehenga, my first stop was, once again, Sabyasachi. I attended his exhibition in Mumbai, and found a piece that I loved. Surprisingly, the designer had a contrary opinion on the matter. He picked out a stunning, intensely rare necklace for me, that's delicate work can never be replicated again."
Dream designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee also threw further details on the beautiful ‘Dil Guldasta’ wedding lehenga in an interview with the same portal, “The lehenga is intricately embroidered on Bordeaux silk with hand-dyed velvet appliqués, silk-floss, beaten silver and gold thread and rose-tinted crystals and rhinestones. The look is romanticised with a sheer, diaphanous, embroidered veil.” (Must Read: This Bride Wore A Dazzling Sabyasachi Orange Lehenga On Her Wedding With Contrasting Jewellery)
Earlier, speaking about his inspiration and thought behind this ‘oh so famous’ lehenga of his, Sabyasachi Mukherjee had stated, “An antique dealer showed me a stunning carpet called the ‘Dil-guldasta’, which loosely translated means ‘the heart is a bouquet.’ It was vivid and rich; strongly romantic, yet richly evil; full of lush blooms in shades of madder, burgundy and rose. The carpet was not for sale as someone else had already beaten me to it. I was obsessed with it for the longest time till I decided to exorcise my demons by creating a lehenga with the idea of it.”
Guys, why don’t you decide and tell us who among Riya or Deepika wore it better? We await!
