Two years ago, in June 2019, the Bengali actress-turned-politician, Nusrat Jahan had tied the knot with the Kolkata-based businessman, Nikhil Jain. Nusrat and Nikhil's wedding was a close-knit ceremony, hosted at the Six Senses Kaplankaya in Bodrum, Turkey. However, since January 2021, reports were rife about troubles in Nusrat and Nikhil's married life and her alleged affair with the actor, Yash Dasgupta.

Finally, in June 2021, Nusrat Jahan had released a statement in the media, revealing that her marriage with Nikhil Jain is invalid in India as per the Turkish Marriage Regulation. Nusrat had stated that as per the court of law, it was not a marriage but a relationship or a live-in, thus the question of divorce doesn't arise. Nusrat had confirmed her separation with Nikhil, which happened a long time back.

As a confirmation of those rumours, a picture of pregnant Nusrat is going viral, posing with fellow Bengali actresses, Srabanti Chatterjee and Tanushree. After Nusrat Jahan had released a statement to announce her separation with Nikhil Jain, he had revealed, in an interview with India Today, that he has filed for an annulment. Nikhil said that he had filed a civil suit in Kolkata and will not comment on it till it is in court. Nikhil had revealed that the separation happened in November 2020.

In her media statement, Nusrat Jahan had clarified why she kept silent about her separation from Nikhil Jain for such a long time. Nusrat had said, "Our separation happened long back, but I did not speak about it as I intended to keep my private life to myself. Thus, my actions must not be questioned based on "separation", by the media or anybody I am not related to. The alleged marriage is not legal, valid and tenable; and thus, was not a marriage at all in the eye of law."
Before her wedding, Nusrat Jahan had revealed in an interview with The Times of India that she had met Nikhil Jain through common friends in college. It had taken three to four months for them to 'utter those three words'. When they had decided to take their relationship to the next level, they broke the news to their families and they approved the match. Nusrat complimented Nikhil for being a one-woman man, who had only her pictures on his phone.
Nikhil and Nusrat haven't clarified the reports of her pregnancy yet but her picture, flaunting the baby bump, proves it to be true!
