Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt Married A Politician's Daughter And Asked For This Amount As Dowry

After a lot of celebrity weddings that took place in 2016, the first celebrity wedding of 2017 was from the sports' circuit that took place in January. The groom of this celeb wedding was in news for a very good reason.

We are talking about ace wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt who won a gold medal in Olympics. He got married to his fiancée, Sheetal Sharma on January 16, 2017 (Exclusive Coverage). The couple got engaged in an intimate ceremony in October 2016. (READ)

Sheetal Sharma is the daughter of Haryana’s Congress leader, Jai Bhagwan Sharma. The groom won many hearts with what he did on being offered dowry.

The star wrestler, who made India proud at Olympics after winning a gold model, won hearts when he decided to say no to dowry. Yes, the wrestler set an example for everyone by asking Rs. 1 in dowry from his in-laws.

He took a stand against the evil practice of dowry and decided to say ‘No’ to any form of dowry on his wedding and hence accepted just Rs. 1 as shagun from bride’s family.

There is a big reason behind his decision. He shared that he has seen his own family members suffer due to this practice on his sisters’ weddings.

Here is what he said:

 “I decided on two things while growing up — I will excel in wrestling and I will not accept dowry. My first dream has been realised and now it is time to keep my second promise.”

He also wished his father, Rammehar Dutt and his guru Master Satbir Singh were alive to see him fulfil both his promises. The entire nation is proud of the wrestler!
