'Heeramandi' is from the pre-independence era; hence, it has a special connection to Pakistan. A video with Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Imran Abbas as leads is going viral for all the right reasons.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is the most ambitious project of ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It not only marks the filmmaker's debut on OTT platforms but also opens the window of extreme opulence and extravagance for the web series. Heeramandi depicts the story of tawaifs in the pre-independence era who bravely participated in the freedom movement but never received the deserved acclamation and credit.
For the unversed, Heeramandi was a part of Lahore, which, in recent times, is in Pakistan. Hence, the Pakistanis also have a deep connection to the storyline, as before independence, we all were geographically one. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, even at a press conference, shared that he wanted to cast Pakistani actors in the series but could not do it for various reasons, and now, taking a cue from the same, an artist created a video with Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Imran Abbas as leads.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is currently one of the most talked about series for all the right reasons. People are in awe of the extravagant screenplay and set design and also appreciated the stellar acting of the cast, which includes Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Manisha Koirala, and more in pivotal roles. Asim Yar Tiwana, an acclaimed artist of Pakistan, recently edited a video starring Mahira Khan, Imran Abbas, and Fawad Khan in lead roles.
In the edited version, we can see Mahira Khan gracefully dancing to the tunes of Shreya Ghoshal's Chaudhavi Shab dressed in a heavily embroidered red-hued anarkali. Opposite Mahira, we can see Imran Abbas sitting and enjoying the dance just like Fardeen Khan's character, 'Wali Mohammed', did in the series. In another sequence, Asim edited Fawad Khan as 'Tajdar Baloch'.

During the interactive session, Sanjay Leela Bhansali shared his initial casting plans, which included the legendary Rekha, the iconic Kareena Kapoor, and the versatile Rani Mukherjee. He also expressed interest in the talented Fawad Khan, Imran Abbas, and Mahira Khan. While the final cast may not have been what he initially envisioned, Sanjay is content with the ensemble he has brought together, ensuring a captivating viewing experience for the audience.
"I had multiple castings in mind; the idea has been there for 18 years. I thought about Rekha Ji, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Rani Mukerji. It was a film back then. I also thought about Mahira Khan, the Pakistani actress, and Imran Abbas and Fawad Khan were also in my mind at one point. But I ended up with this ensemble cast."
