People from across the border eagerly wait for Hindi movies to release in that part of the world, and Indian audiences also eagerly wait for Pakistani dramas. Not many know that Pakistan has banned Bollywood movies, but Pakistanis still shower love and never miss a chance to incorporate the songs into their wedding festivities.
Over the years, we have seen many Pakistani women choosing famous Indian designer outfits for their nikah or pre-wedding festivities. Meet Pakistani bride, Ayesha Tahir, who got married in Dubai, in a grand wedding ceremony. However, her wedding became the talk of the town, after she recreated a scene from Bollywood film, Jodhaa Akbar during her wedding festivities. Yes, Ayesha re-enacted the famous scene, wherein 'Jodhaa' was being weighed using gold.
The Pakistani bride was decked up in a pretty green-hued lehenga with multicoloured choli and a red-toned dupatta. During her wedding, she was made to sit on a weighing scale while the other part of the scale had large gold bricks to equalise her weight. The wedding had a dazzling Bollywood-style celebration with a lavish and luxurious backdrop.

As soon as the Pakistani bride's video had gone viral, people trolled her for using real gold as Pakistan was already dealing with a financial crisis after the pandemic. However, the bride's family clarified the gold bricks used were not real ones, but rather they were gold-plated. Earlier, in an interview with Khaleej Times, the couple clarified to Khaleej Times that the gold bricks were not solid but gold-plated.
In an interview with Gulf Today, the bride revealed the reason for incorporating the gold-weighing ritual. She added that the theme of the wedding was Jodhaa Akbar. Every member of the family was dressed accordingly. The bride was quoted as saying:
"If you watch the film, there is a scene where the bride is weighed against gold. We essentially recreated that scene to stay true to our chosen theme. The gold weighing was an integral part of our wedding. We never anticipated that the video would go viral. We only found out about its viral status the next day through our photographer, which took us by surprise."
Well, we are in awe of the way the Pakistani bride and the groom recreated the famous Jodhaa Akbar scene for their wedding!
