Pakistani actress, Mawra Hocane shared she met her husband, Ameer Gilani because of her Bollywood debut, 'Sanam Teri Kasam'.
Bollywood actor, Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress, Mawra Hocane made their Bollywood debut with, Sanam Teri Kasam (2016). The romantic tragedy film inspired by the story of 'Sati' and 'Parvati', had tanked at the box office when it released. When the film was re-released on February 7, 2025, during Valentine's Day week, every person who did sachi mohabbat broke down at the theatre. Now, Mawra, overwhelmed with the response, credited the movie for making her meet her husband, Pakistani actor, Ameer Gilani.
For the unversed, Mawra and Ameer had a dreamy nikaah ceremony on February 5, 2025 at the Lahore fort. During a recent Zoom interview, she shared meeting Ameer because of her debut movie. She recalled meeting Gilani when she was in her law school. She always found him good looking as Mawra noted:
"I met him in my law school when I was pursuing my degree. Yeh bhi Sanam Teri Kasam ka kamaal hai because I took a break in the second year and went to Mumbai to shoot the film. When I came back to resume my degree, that's when Ameer came into my batch. We didn't interact much in school. Kismat ka plan tha. Eventually, he also ended up becoming an actor. He also went to Harvard to do his master's. After coming back from the US, he became an actor"
Mawra further shared how she met Ameer on the sets of Sabaat, and they started talking about how we were in law school. She also realised that God stopped making men like him and found him well-behaved and cultured. His sense of wisdom impressed her greatly.
Mawra and Ameer, over the years, worked together on a few projects and became close friends. It was their family who motivated them to take their relationship ahead. Mawra and Harshvardhan's romantic tragedy movie got its recognition at a time when Loveyapa and Badass Ravikumar released at the box office. During an earlier interview with Faridoon Shahryar, Mawra shared that Ameer got with him the marriage luck. Mawra shared:
"To be honest, if the film has waited nine years to achieve these numbers, I think it's my husband bringing in the luck for sure. Because, the only thing that has changed since then is this (Mawra getting married). The film was always there, and everything was there. But I truly feel it's the marriage luck because it's literally the same dates."
For the unversed, Mawra's brother-in-law, Farhan Saeed and sister Urwa are big stars in Pakistan. She had recollected in the interview with Zoom how they stood by her when Sanam Teri Kasam failed at the box office. They supported Mawra during her tough times, as she remembered:
"When the film failed at the box office, I was very heartbroken. I didn't know how to handle the failure. My sister Urwa and brother-in-law Farhan Saeed are big stars. They are truly the pillars of strength to me. They wished me the best and told me that I deserved this success.”
