Palak Sidhwani revealed how she wanted to quit 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' since 2023, but the makers did not allow her to leave. She also shared her future plans in the industry.
Palak Sindhwani, best known for her character ‘Sonu Bhide’ in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has once again made it to the headlines for quitting the show after a series of bitter experiences. Popular sitcom, TMKOC, for the past few years, has constantly been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Numerous actors in the drama complained about the toxic work culture on the sets and called out the makers for not only harassing them but also for not clearing their dues. And now, Palak Sindhwani, too, has accused the makers of disregarding her mental health concerns.
Palak Sindwani recently gave an interview to Pinkvilla in which she revealed that back in December 2023, she first approached the makers to allow her to leave the show. She explained to them that she had a medical condition and would like to take a break. But at that time, they did not allow her to leave as another cast member was also in talks with them about quitting. In Palak's words:
"I have had certain medical issues. I don't want to go into details of that. My doctor advised me to take less stress and asked me to maintain a good lifestyle where I get good sleep and the work is light. But here anything happens at any time. I was planning to quit the show. In December 2023, for the first time, I told their production head that I want to quit. After hearing this, he said, 'No, not now. Now another co-actor is leaving.'"
Palak added that her co-star, who wanted to quit at that time, also kept hanging for 1.5 years. The makers did not let the actor quit the show for one reason or another. Even when she wanted to quit the show, the makers did the same with her and did not allow her to leave, but she was adamant. Palak further added:
"To even let that co-actor go, they took 1.5 years. He suffered for 1.5 years and that is the reason the said co-actor was sent on a good note."
In the same interview, Palak shared that she no longer wants to work in television. She did TV for five years, that too, the same show, and now she wants a change. But first of all, she will take a break to heal her physical and mental health. Palak added:
"Honestly, I don't want to do TV. Mera mann uthh gaya hai. 5 saal ek show ko dene ke baad aisa sab hua hai toh abhi muje TV nahi karna hai. Honestly, this one-month break can exceed to two months."
Palak Sindhwani revealed that she was deeply hurt when the makers mistreated and threatened her. The actress shred how she was unfairly threatened that her social media account would be deleted and she wouldn't be able to do brand endorsements ever again. Palak stated that she tried to make them understand that other actors also do brand endorsements, but the makers spoke to her in a very harsh language. Palak can be quoted as saying:
"During the September 18 meeting, they even threatened me, saying they could delete my Instagram account in one go because they have such a strong team, and that I wouldn’t be able to shoot brand endorsements anymore. I pointed out that almost all the actors are doing brand endorsements, so why was I the only one being accused of breaching the contract? They responded that their contracts are different and I shouldn't compare myself with others. They started speaking to me rudely, using the same harsh language."
