Remember Pankit Thakker of Dil Mill Gaye fame? The actor and his wife, Prachi, have officially separated. The former couple was married for around 20 years and a report by Pinkvilla states that since 2015, they have been living separately. It was in 2016 that they had announced their separation. However, in December 2024, their divorce was finalised.
Pankit impressed his fans with his role in Dill Mill Gaye, a classic cult serial and was known for his phenomenal acting chops. However, in real life, his 'Dil' did not connect with Prachi. Well, now the actor has hogged the limelight as a recent report by ETimes mentioned that Pankit and his wife have officially ended their 20 year long marriage. Both Pankit and Prachi were unavailable for their comment.
The divorce of Pankit and Prachi first came to light in 2016. However, once in an interview with a leading publication, the actor said that the divorce would occur after mutual consent. He had said that he was waiting for the pandemic to end so that he could file for divorce. However, he revealed that he and Prachi have been living separately since 2015, and now both of them are in a better place and in a happy state in life. He also added:
"We still respect each other and things are very clear between us. We have mutually decided to stay responsible towards our son. And I am fine with him staying with his mother. I lost my mom when I was quite young and I understand how important a mom is in a kid's life. We are filing our divorce with mutual consent."
For the unversed, the former pair married on September 11, 2000. The relationship of the duo went through many highs and lows, and they faced many difficulties navigating through their relationship. Pankit's family disapproved of the relationship due to the age gap. They had also undergone counselling to strengthen their relationship, but they just did not connect. It was in 2021 that the actor revealed that he and Prachi had sought counselling to overcome the challenges in their relationship. However, they found peace in separation, and since 2015, they have been in a happy state by staying separately. However, things were very clear between them.
Earlier in an interview, with the Hindustan Times, the actor said that his former wife, Prachi was talented and very beautiful. He always had a lot of respect for who she is, however there are times when things are not in our hands. They did try their best to be together but they had failed. Pankit had added:
"I married her after falling for her and going against my family as she eight years elder to me and I was just 21 at that time. I was at peak of my career and believed that was a right time god is blessing me with everything I wished for".
