In a tragic incident, the Wagh Bakri Tea group's director, Parag Desai, passed away after street dogs attacked him.
In a tragic turn of events, Parag Desai, the Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, passed away at the age of 49. The young scion was reportedly attacked by street dogs outside his residence in Ahmedabad. Multiple reports suggest that the incident happened on October 15, 2023, after Parag fell outside his home while trying to escape the street dogs that attacked him.
Parag was rushed to the nearby Shelby Hospital and was later shifted to Zydus Hospital after the security guard alerted the family about the incident. After being on the ventilator for seven days, he succumbed to a brain haemorrhage and passed away on October 22, 2023. His last rites were conducted at the Thaltej crematorium on October 23, 2023.

Talking about the tragic news and penning condolence on Parag’s death, Gujarat Congress chief and Rajya Sabha member Shaktisinh Gohil wrote:
“Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner Wagh Bakri Tea passed away. He had a brain haemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India.”
Parag Desai was the son of Rasesh Desai, Managing Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group. An MBA from Long Island University USA, Parag led the company’s sales, marketing and export departments, with a turnover of over Rs. 1,500 crores. With an experience of over 30 years, Parag participated in platforms like the Confederation of Indian Industry.

He also transformed the group into Tea Lounges and e-commerce. Parag was the fourth-generation entrepreneur of the brand and was survived by his wife, Vidisha and daughter, Parisha.
