Parveen Babi Once Accused Amitabh Bachchan Of Kidnapping And Planting A Transmitter Under Her Ear

Once in an old interview, the late legendary actress, Parveen Babi accused Amitabh Bachchan of kidnapping her. She even termed her 'Majdoor' and 'Deewar' co-star as an 'international gangster'.

Parveen Babi was born on April 4, 1954, in Gujarat’s Junagadh to her parents, Jamal Bakhte Babi and Vali Mohammed Khan Babi. She completed her schooling from Ahmedabad's Mount Carmel High School and earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature from St. Xavier's College. At the age of 18, she started her career as a model in the modelling industry. However, after just one year, she made her acting debut in 1972 with the film, Charitra, in which she was seen opposite Arjuna awardee cricketer, Salim Durani.

Parveen Babi's debut film, Chritra turned out to be a flop at the box office, but the 19-year-old Parveen grabbed the attention of renowned filmmakers and producers. As a result, she was cast by Ravi Tandon in his film, Majdoor, opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 1974. It was the first time Parveen and Amitabh worked together, and people instantly fell in love with their on-screen chemistry.

Parveen Babi and Amitabh Bachchan worked together once again in Yash Chopra's iconic film, Deewar in the year 1975. The actress portrayed the character of a prostitute named 'Anita' in the film and garnered a lot of applause for the same from critics and the audience. In the coming years, Parveen and Amitabh worked together in a series of films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Kaala Patthar, Suhaag, Do Aur Do Paanch, Shaan, Kaalia, Desh Premee, Namak Halaal, Khud-Daar, and Mahaan.

After working in so many films, Parveen Babi and Amitabh Bachchan became friends and used to praise each other for their respective acting talents. However, as per multiple reports back in that time, something was cooking between Parveen and Amitabh. Despite reports of them having an extra-marital affair, as Amitabh was married to Jaya Bachchan, neither Big B nor Parveen ever confirmed their dating reports. However, when their dating report started making too much noise in the media, Amitabh distanced himself from Parveen, which left the latter reportedly furious.

Parveen Babi reportedly accused Amitabh Bachchan of kidnapping and planting a chip under her ear via surgery

According to a report in Filmibeat, Parveen Babi termed Amitabh Bachchan as an 'international gangster' in an old interview with a leading film magazine. The iconic actress, who had worked with Big B in a series of films, also accused him of trying to take her life. Not only this, she also added that Amitabh's goons kept her on an unknown island and inserted a chip under her ear through surgery. In her words:

"Amitabh Bachchan is a super international gangster. He is after my life. His goons kidnapped me and I was kept on an island where they performed a surgery on me and planted a transmitter or chip right under my ear."

As soon as the interview was published in the film magazine, it created a stir in the entire film industry. Parveen Babi even filed a police complaint against Amitabh Bachchan, and the matter went to court. However, during the investigation, Parveen was diagnosed with schizophrenia. For the uninitiated, schizophrenia is a medical disorder that affects a person's ability to think and behave.

Amitabh Bachchan's reply to Parveen Babi accusing him of kidnapping

During the investigation, Amitabh Bachchan also opened up about Parveen Babi's severe accusations against him. The actor clearly stated that Parveen was terrified of people because of her medical condition. He also revealed that she was prone to all sorts of hallucinations and delusions that a person feels when diagnosed with schizophrenia. He said:

"The nature of her illness was such that she was terrified of people and was prone to all sorts of excessive delusions and hallucinations."

Parveen Babi's death

Parveen Babi passed away on January 20, 2005, due to multiple organ failure at the age of 50. She was found dead inside her apartment after her neighbours called the police when she didn't collect her groceries and newspapers for three days. It was her alleged boyfriend, Mahesh Bhatt, who helped her family with her last rites.
