'Ponniyin Selvan' actor, Jayam Ravi finally reacted to the claims of his affair with singer, Kenishaa Francis as the reason of his divorce with wife, Aarti.
Notable Tamil actor, Jayam Ravi has been leading the headlines for quite some time now. For the past few months, there have been many speculations about his separation from his wife, Aarti, and Jayam recently confirmed the speculations. But soon after, Aarti claimed that the announcement was made without her consent, and there was news about the actor's affair with singer, Kenishaa Francis as the core reason for his split with Aarti.
Jayam Ravi and Aarti had been married for over 15 years, so their divorce announcement shocked all their fans and well-wishers. A report by Tamil magazine, Nakheeran a few days back revealed that the main reason behind the split between Jayam and Aarti was possibly because of the former's affair with Bangalore-based singer, Kenishaa Francis. Reacting to the same, Ravi said:
"I would like to say one thing. Live and let live. Don't drag anyone's name into this personal matter. People are saying random things. Don’t indulge in such acts. Let your personal life be kept as personal life. Kenishaa is a person who sang in 600 stage shows. She came up in life with her hard work. She is a healer who saved many lives. She is a licenced psychologist. Please don’t involve her in this."
Jayam Ravi defended Kenishaa Francis, saying that the singer has sung for over 600 stage shows and earned respect in the industry with her talent and hard work. So, a baseless rumour like this should not be alleged against her. Moreover, Kenishaa is a licensed psychologist and has saved many lives.
It was reported that in June 2024, Jayam and Kenishaa were fined by the Goa police for overspeeding, a matter that escalated when the news reached Aarti. The incident, which occurred during a late-night drive, was a significant factor in the conflict. Additionally, Jayam reportedly skipped his 14th wedding anniversary with his family and his wife, choosing instead to purchase a bungalow with Kenishaa.
Earlier, a report had mentioned that Aarti Ravi's mom, Sujatha, and brother, Shankar, were the reason for the couple's separation. According to the reports, Sujatha and Shankar had a heated argument with Jayam Ravi during a film shoot, allegedly over his professional conduct. It was also said that Sujatha even asked the filmmakers to reduce Jayam's fee from Rs. 25 crores, stating that his fame has been fading away.
