During one segment of the show, Poonam Dhillon revealed that she had organised the wedding outfit and jewellery for Padmini Kolhapure when she had decided to run away and had got married against the wishes of her parents. Poonam said:
“In simple words, bhag kar shaadi ki thi Padmini ne and whatever jewellery she was wearing, we gave it to her. We were all so young, and we had no clue what she was going to wear for her wedding, so we organised her clothes. We have seen a lot of ups and downs together, happy, and sad. I believe, family is chosen by God but there is this one relationship we have the liberty to choose for ourselves and that is friendship. I can do anything for this friendship. ”
Listening to this, Padmini heaped praises for Poonam and shared that she has been very helpful. She said:
“She put in huge efforts in the course of our friendship when my mother and father were not supportive of my marriage, Poonam helped me a lot.”
Moreover, Padmini's elder sister, Shivangi Kapoor and her brother-in-law, Shakti Kapoor were always in favour of her marriage with Pradeep Sharma. In fact, Shakti Kapoor had helped her in getting married. In an interview with the Filmfare, Padmini had talked about her marriage and had said:
"Shivangi and Shakti were totally supportive when I got married. We got married (in 1986) in producer Ashok Thakeria’s house (ex-husband of good friend Poonam Dhillon). Shivangi was pregnant and was advised bed rest, so she wasn’t part of the wedding. Yes, my parents were upset but they eventually reconciled. I began living with them after my son Priyank was born. I’m glad my son grew up with those sanskars."
Further in the interview, Padmini had talked about the strict nature of her parents and had shared that they would have never said yes to their love marriage. In her words:
"Our parents were strict. Even if I left my hair loose, dad would say, ‘Tie it or I’ll chop them off!’ Acting was just a profession, after that I had to head straight home. So a love marriage was out of question. But love happened when I met my husband Tutu and then we decided to elope."

However, Padmini feels that things would have been different if she would have waited for her parents' approval. In the same interview, the actress had further expressed that the biggest regret of her life was to hurt her parents by running away with the man of her dreams. In her words:
"My only regret is hurting my parents and getting married the way I did. Yeh dukh tha, hai aur rahega… After I got married, a girl came and told me that she too wanted to elope. I told her ‘wait, your parents will come around, don’t hurt them’. You realise this after you become parents."
