Prateik Babbar's wife, Priya Banerjee's 'mangalsutra' has a special connection to the actor's late mom, Smita Patil.
Prateik Babbar got married to the love of his life, Priya Banerjee on the day of love, Valentine's Day. While the duo's wedding glimpses left us in awe, gossip around the same began as Prateik didn't invite the Babbar family into the joyous day of his life. While the gossip is around, it was the newbie bride of the B-town, Priya, whose bridal look became the talk of the town. She ditched the traditional red hue on her wedding day and opted for a soft-toned bridal outfit. Moreover, it was her mangalsutra that reportedly carries a deep-rooted connection to Prateik's late mom, Smita Patil.
As per a recent report by Filmfare, Priya Banerjee's mangalsutra is crafted with Smita Patil's earrings. Reportedly, Smita was meant to wear these earrings after Prateik's birth. To pay tribute to his mom, Prateik transformed his mom's earrings into his wife, Priya's mangalsutra, and it is an extremely touching of a gesture. For the unversed, Priya and Prateik got married at Smita Patil's home.
Talking about the same, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Priya said that she and Prateik got married in the presence of close friends and family members, and the most important part is that they got married at Smita's home. Priya further stated that to get married in Smita Patil's home felt like she was present there, and it could be felt by everyone who was present there. In Priya's words:
"The most special part was that our closest family was with us. His two aunts and my parents were there to celebrate us. They are the closest, most loved people to us and we got married in his mum’s house, which made us feel her presence. In fact, everyone present said that they felt she was there with us."
Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar talked about not being invited to Prateik and Priya's wedding. Arya Babbar expressed his hurt over Prateik not inviting their father, Raj to his wedding, which the former felt to be 'disrespectful' to Smita Patil. Well, Priya broke the silence about the same. Talking to the Hindustan Times, Priya revealed that no one from their family was missing from the wedding, and thus, she can't fully understand why rumours are rife that the families were absent. Priya further stated that everyone who mattered to her and Prateik was present there at their wedding.
For their wedding, Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee opted for Tarun Tahiliani's custom-made outfits. Priya looked gorgeous in an embellished fishtail skirt paired with a structured corset and a signature TT drape and veil. Her look was amplified by polki and emerald jewellery. Prateik, on the other hand, looked handsome in a draped shirt and a sherwani jacket teamed with a dhoti and a kamarband.
