We have collectively watched and sighed while the eight-year romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton blossomed. Now that they are finally getting hitched, we are again collectively waiting to see the wedding of the century unfold. Kate is known to be stylish and elegant. No doubt her wedding dress will reflect the same sensibility, by keeping it classy with a chic yet simple silhouette.
The fashion director of the Telegraph, Hilary Alexander said she expects it to be a surprising choice for a wedding dress. Deborah Joseph, editor of Brides Magazine, said Kate will face substantial pressure to opt for an English designer.
"It's a British royal wedding, there's no need to look abroad," Joseph said. "Obviously, there will be lots of speculation on the designer now. It depends which route Kate takes. She may give a nod to Princess Diana and use one of her designers, like Bruce Oldfield or Amanda Wakeley, or she may make a statement of her own."
Joseph added that Kate’s decision could define bridal wear for the next decade, much as Diana's choice in 1981 became the most-copied wedding dress in history. This is something everyone agrees on.

Catherine’s fashion has been under the media spotlight for the last few years and she may well carry on with her tendency to opt for less well known designers when it comes to her wedding dress, in a similar way to Prince William’s mother choosing the Emmanuels to design her stunning gown. The Wedding Planner School’s survey of modern women revealed the wedding of Charles & Diana to have the most influence when it comes to thinking of their own weddings. Whatever the dress one thing is for sure, as with the engagement dress, designers around the world will be making copies as fast as possible.”
What We Do Know – The Date and Location
Kate and Prince William will get married in the heart of London, at the historic Westminster Abbey on April 29. With a thousand years of rich history, the abbey is the burial place of many of the kings and queens of England. It is an active church and holds daily prayer and worship services, but it may be closed a few days before the ceremony for all the necessary security measures.
