Priyanka Chopra's mother, Madhu Chopra, shared a throwback picture of Ashok Chopra, along with a lovely note on his death anniversary!
The White Tiger actress, Priyanka Chopra’s father, Ashok Chopra was a physician in the Indian Army. He passed away on June 10, 2013, after a very long battle with cancer. The actress shared a very close bond with her father and has spoken about her relationship with Ashok Chopra on many occasions. In fact, Priyanka’s tattoo on her right hand reading ‘Daddy’s lil girl’, is in her late father’s handwriting. After the demise of Ashok Chopra, Priyanka often takes to her social media handles to share throwback memories with her father.

As much of a loss it is to the talented actress, greater it is to her mother, Madhu Chopra. In a conversation with Zoom, Madhu Chopra had spoken about her marriage with Ashok Chopra. She had mentioned how the two of them bonded and decided to spend a lifetime together. The couple had lived a happy and smooth married life for all the years they spent together. In the event of Ashok Chopra’s death anniversary, his wife and daughter shared a post on remembering him.
On June 10, 2021, Madhu Chopra shared a picture on Twitter of her late husband, Ashok Chopra and wrote, “Forever and always loved!” Priyanka Chopra reshared her mother’s post. Ashok was 62 years old at the time of his death.
The father-daughter relationship was transparent and wonderful, such that, in an interview with a magazine, Priyanka had spoken about how she had clashes of ego with her father, during her teenage days. The actress had stated that, during her mid-teen years when she returned from the US, Ashok Chopra was shaken up and had banned her from wearing tight clothes.

In a conversation with Oprah Winfrey on the latter’s show Super Soul, the actress had opened up about dealing with her father’s death. When Priyanka was asked about when her faith was tested the most, she had said, “I think around the death of my dad. I was very angry. I was very angry. My relationship with God changed a little bit. But then at the same time, I feel like God helped me find salvation and come out of it too. But at that time, it was tested.”
Adding to this, she continued, “Oh man, I went to every temple there was to go to. I did every prayer there was to do. I met every godman or godwoman I needed to meet, every doctor I needed to go to. I flew my dad to Singapore, New York, Europe, India, everywhere, just to do whatever I could to prolong his life. It’s such a helpless feeling.”
Priyanka took a while to deal with her father’s loss but has never fallen back on the career front. Talking about Priyanka’s work, she was last seen in The White Tiger film, starring Rajkummar Rao. Her next appearance is going to be in the film, The Matrix 4, which is expected to hit the theatres at the end of this year in December 2021.
