Madhu Chopra recently revealed how her parents had an important role in Priyanka Chopra's upbringing. Read ahead to know more.
Priyanka Chopra hails from a humble background and was raised beautifully by her mom, Dr Madhu Chopra, and her late father, Dr Ashok Chopra. However, did you know that PeeCee and her younger brother, Siddharth Chopra, lived most of the time with their nana and nani? They had grown up with their grandparents under their shelter and care. Madhu, in a recent interview, credited her parents for raising Priyanka and Siddharth.
Madhu recently sat down for an interview with Rubina Dilaik for her YouTube channel, where she revealed how Priyanka and Siddharth's maternal grandparents raised her kids. Madhu credited them for taking responsibility for Priyanka and Siddharth, which allowed her to manage her professional and personal commitments. Madhu shared:
"My kids, when they were really small and we were also young, they spent their childhood at my parents’ house. There was a lot of support from their side."
Going ahead in the interview, Madhu shared that she followed the rule of always giving full attention to her children. She remembered how, after completing her work, she used to spend all the time with Priyanka and Siddharth. Madhu called it spending 'quality time' with her kids. In her words:
"We worked with complete focus and dedication but when we spent time with our kids, it was quality time. There was no interruption at that time. No phone calls, no patients, just 100 percent focus on the kids. So the kids were always happy with that. They knew that ‘grown ups always come back’, we always made sure that our kids knew about it.”
Madhu, going ahead in the interview, shared that if kids complained of being treated badly by their parents, they needed to introspect their behaviour. She felt that sometimes kids get misguided. When they start earning, they move out and parents get left behind. Madhu shared that kids carry the scars of childhood. In her words:
"That’s why we are smoking up, or doing something bad’. That is wrong. Even if your parents treated you badly, they were doing the best they could. Something was wrong with you which is why they had to change themselves. You didn’t improve yourself so the fault is in you, not in the parent who has done the best for you. I tell them to introspect and improve themselves. Until you realise that, you can’t change your path and you can’t do the right thing.”
Madhu, in an earlier conversation with Lehren Retro, shared that Priyanka was very strong about celebrating her mom's birthday after her dad passed away. Priyanka wanted to see her mother smiling on her 60th birthday, which was six days after her husband, Dr Ashok passed away.
