Recently, Priyanka Chopra recalled her experience working on Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, 'Don.' She revealed that she learnt to focus on work rather than her relationships with directors or co-stars.
Priyanka Chopra's journey is one that will always inspire millions. She went from being bullied in school because of her race to being crowned Miss World in 2000. With no intentions of slowing down, Priyanka then transitioned to Bollywood and dominated the industry with box-office hits like Agneepath, Krrish, Gunday, Don, and more. When the actress felt the film industry's politics were interfering with her career, she made a courageous move. Instead of cowering to the forces that she claimed blacklisted her, Priyanka headed for Hollywood and started from scratch. Now, the stunning actress has established herself as a global icon. Priyanka recently discussed her long career in the entertainment industry, even talking about the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, Don.
Priyanka Copra recently made an appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) 2024 in Saudi Arabia on December 11, 2024, during which she engaged in a media interaction. The gorgeous actress discussed her long career in the entertainment industry across Bollywood and Hollywood. Priyanka also talked about her experience working on the iconic action thriller, Don, which also starred legendary actor, Shah Rukh Khan.
For the unversed, Priyanka Chopra played the role of 'Roma' in the film, a woman who infiltrates 'Don's' gang to avenge her brother and his fiance's deaths. Priyanka's character was involved in quite a few action sequences, and the actress noted that significant preparation was required for this reason. Priyanka also stated that she properly entered the action genre with Don. The global icon further revealed that she had taken lessons in Tai Chi under the guidance of director, Farhan Akhtar to prepare for the role. Priyanka recalled:
"I took Tai Chi classes and worked really hard to perfect it because I wanted to do it right."
Priyanka Chopra further discussed the major takeaway from working on Don. According to the actress, she understood that what should matter most for an actor was their craft and not their relationships with directors or co-stars. Priyanka can be quoted as saying:
"By the time I came to Don, I had realised that the most important thing to focus on is my craft, not your relationships with your director, co-actors, not how you behave on set, but what you do between action and cut."
Another lesson Priyanka learnt was the importance of studying one's character. She stated that following Don, she prioritized doing character homework so that every role she played would be distinct. In Priyanka's words:
"A lot of training went into the action sequences in Don, and I tasted blood a little bit. I look really good with a weapon in my hand defending my country; what can I say?"
For the unversed, the original Don, written by Salim-Javed, featured Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role and was released in 1978. The film was then rewritten by Javed Akhtar's son, Farhan, in 2006, with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra as the main characters. Then, a sequel featuring the two was released in 2011. Earlier, filmmaker, Farhan revealed that Don 3 was in the works.
Allegedly, he had tried to get Shah Rukh on board for the film, but things didn't pan out. Ultimately, the role went to Ranveer Singh, with Farhan claiming the script demanded a 'next generation actor.' Following Shah Rukh's exit from the film, rumours surfaced that Priyanka might be returning to the action thriller. However, the gossip was unfounded, and it has now been revealed that Kiara Advani will be playing the female lead. For the unversed, Shah Rukh and Priyanka had stopped working together after the release of Don 2. Neither has ever publicly addressed the reasons for the same, but many believe it has to do with the gossip around their alleged affair.
The duo got along really well while shooting for Don and Don 2 and were even spotted spending alone time, by many. Following this, speculations arose about something brewing between King Khan and PeeCee. Shah Rukh’s wife, Gauri Khan, was not at all happy with her hubby’s conduct, and rumours have it that King Khan was strictly warned by his wife never to be seen together in public with Priyanka.
