Priyanka Chopra recently recalled how her sleep cycle changed with her little girl's arrival into their lives.
Priyanka Chopra has made a name for herself not only in the Indian film industry but also in Hollywood. The actress, who ventured into showbiz after winning the Miss World pageant in 2000, has worked on several popular Bollywood and International projects. Apart from her professional life, the actress' personal life has also been in the limelight. Priyanka got married to American singer Nick Jonas in 2018, and they welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, in 2022 via surrogacy.
Recently, the global superstar sat for a conversation with Cavanaugh James on his podcast, Read The Room. While conversing, the host asked PeeCee about the most surprising thing she encountered during her motherhood journey. The actress revealed that she could no longer sleep the way she used to before having her baby girl. Sharing how she used to wake up in the middle of the night, Priyanka added:
"I cannot sleep the way I used to sleep. I am the lightest sleeper, I can hear everything, I am so vigilant when it comes to a cry or a sound. There’s no reason, but I am just like (gasps) ‘Everything okay?’ I look into the camera, ‘Oh, it’s 2 am, okay.’ ‘Oh, she’s (Malti Marie) still asleep; it’s 4:30.’ Why do I want to wake up at 7:30? Because she’s up. I used to sleep at 10 am, be up all night."

During the same conversation, Priyanka also spoke about transitioning from Bollywood to Hollywood and the challenges she encountered when she switched her place of work. Despite her extensive filmography in Indian showbiz, Priyanka faced several rejections in the West. However, PeeCee kept moving forward and looked at the rejections as humbling experiences. She kept her head down and did all the hard yards to reach the stage where she is now at present. Sharing how she promised not to be upset about rejections, Priyanka added
“I started right from the beginning. I have been on the cover of a certain magazine six times in my country, but in the US, they wouldn't even take a meeting with me. That took a lot, and I was like it’s okay! It humbles you to be like this is where I am right now. I was like I am not going to be upset by it, or I am not going to say that's a closed door, I am going to navigate something else. I put my head down and did the work. I didn't bring my pride of 'I am a leading lady and blah blah...' I didn’t do that and that's what helped me find a position in which I am today.”

Furthermore, Priyanka mentioned that she was scared when she shifted her base to Hollywood. She revealed not having any friends in New York City and said that everything was new to her. Priyanka labelled the initial years of being in the West as the ‘dark period of her life’, and said:
“But when I moved countries again, it’s an industry that I don’t know, the people, I don’t know, I didn't have friends who would call at 2 in the morning. That's very important. I was very lonely, and it was very scary. I was in New York City, which, anyway, is a daunting city. It was a dark period of my life.”
Priyanka, who is currently busy shooting her next project, Heads Of State, took to her Instagram stories on April 27, 2024, to reveal who the 'Chief Troublemaker' on the sets is. And to everyone's surprise, it is none other than her adorable daughter, Malti. Priyanka took her baby girl to her set, and she was then given an identity card to grant her access to the set. Sharing a picture of the card on social media, PeeCee revealed that Malti has been designated as the 'Chief Troublemaker' on the set.
