R. Madhavan Once Discouraged Comparisons Between His Son, Vedaant And Other Star Kids

R. Madhavan's son, Vedaant is an accomplished swimmer and didn't chose the acting path. Despite that, he has been often compared with other star kids which displeased his father.

The life of star kids has always been a subject of fascination for media and netizens. There are comparisons, speculations, and judgments over their career online. Many star kids decide to follow in their parent's footsteps and enter the acting world, while others forge a different path. One star kid who, in particular, selected a different career for himself is R. Madhavan's son, Vedaant. He is an established swimmer who has competed in several national and global competitions. However, R. Madhavan is not 'okay' with his son being compared with other star kids.

R. Madhavan was displeased with his son's comparison to other star kids

R. Madhavan had a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, The Ranveer Show. In his conversation, The Railway Men actor expressed his thoughts on his son's comparison to other star kids by netizens. He added that he and his wife, Sarita, aren't fine with these comments and companions that can cause harm to his son or other star kids. For the unversed, Vedaant is often titled an 'ideal star kid' for his hard work and achievements. R. Madhavan was quoted as saying:

"Comparing a child to another child can hurt many people. When Vedaant gets compared to star kids, we don't appreciate or endorse it."

R. Madhavan shared that his son isn't the best in the world and has a long way to go 

Although Vedaant gets much attention and appreciation, his father, R. Madhavan feels he isn't the best. At the same time, his young son has a long way to go. In this situation, the pressure of being a star kid can hurt him. Madhavan admitted that his son is not the best swimmer in the country. Rather, he is an actor's son who has achieved a national record that brings fame for his achievements.

Vedaant expressed his desire to establish his own identity

Vedaant has won medals in several swimming championships abroad. When the young swimmer won at the Danish Open 2022 in Copenhagen, he shared his desire to carve his separate identity. Vedaant is far from the showbiz and doesn't want to live in his father's shadow. After his win, Vedaant had said:

"I didn't wanna live under my dad's shadow. I wanted to make a name for myself. I didn't want to be just R Madhavan's son."

R. Madhavan and his wife shifted to Dubai to support their son

Vedaant's parents worked hard to provide him with the necessary training and skills to help him improve his skills. They shifted to Dubai during COVID-19, arranged for renowned tutors, and made several other sacrifices for him. The young star kid acknowledged his parents' sacrifices, like the major decision to shift to Dubai since the larger swimming pools were closed in Mumbai during the pandemic.
