New mom, Radhika Apte recently shared a bts picture from the BAFTA, where she was seen drinking champagne while pumping her breast milk, which has drawn the ire of netizens.
Radhika Apte rose to fame for her versatile acting and critically acclaimed performances in films like Manjhi: The Mountain Man, Parched, Pad Man, Andhadhun, Bombairiya, and Raat Akeli Hai, among others. On her personal front, Radhika is married to British violinist and composer, Benedict Taylor, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in December 2024. Despite not revealing more details about her daughter, the actress has been open about her motherhood journey and its challenges. Recently, she shared a picture related to the same but got trolled for it.
Radhika Apte quickly returned to work after welcoming her daughter, and the new mom recently attended the BAFTA Awards, where her film, Sister Midnight was also nominated. Apart from sharing gorgeous pictures from her appearance at the event, Radhika recently shared a new behind-the-scene picture from the prestigious award function, where she changed into a comfortable pair of pants and t-shirt while pumping breastfeed with one hand and holding a glass of champagne in another. She penned:
"And now my BAFTAs reality (laughing face emoji). I have to thank Natasha @tashtash07 for making it possible for me to attend the BAFTAs. She scheduled the itinerary around my breast-pumping timings. She not only accompanied me to the washroom to express milk but, more importantly, brought me champagne in the loo."
In the caption, Radhika added that it's difficult as a new mom to balance work and motherhood. However, she was delighted with the care and sensitivity she received for the night. Besides her struggles as a new mom, Radhika looked stunning on the red carpet in a semi-sheer and flowy lavender-hued gown. She kept her hair open and sported flawless makeup with a bold red lip in a minimalistic look for the night.
When Radhika Apte's picture from BAFTA went viral, some netizens praised the actress for normalising the challenges of motherhood. However, many netizens schooled her for consuming alcohol while pumping while breastfeeding. One netizen wrote, "Are you kidding…you cannot have alcohol and breastfeed at the same time." Another fan penned, "It is sad that you are drinking while breastfeeding."
One comment read: "Hey, this is a very wrong message you are sending to others. It's not only when you are pumping; when you are breastfeeding mom, you should leave alcohol and related things. And by chance, if you want to drink anytime, which is not suggested, you should not breastfeed till 24 hours. Please at least think about the baby. The doctor also advised the same."
Radhika Apte was last seen in the English film, Sister Midnight, where she portrayed the role of a woman in an unhappy arranged marriage. It also starred Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam and Smita Tambe in key roles. The actress will be next seen in an English film, Last Days and a Hindi show, Akka.
