Throwback to Raima Sen's candid revelation on how her identity as veteran actress, late Suchitra Sen's granddaughter did not save her from her own share of struggles.
Suchitra Sen has been one of the most legendary actresses in the Bengali film industry. She has worked in over a hundred films, all of which have been successful in pulling a chord of one’s heart. Moreover, she has remained as a true-blue legend whose style and charisma continue to live on, especially through her daughter, Moon Moon Sen and her lovely granddaughters, Raima Sen and Riya Sen.
The ever-lasting debate on the topic of nepotism in the film industries have been going on for a long time now. Incidentally, while in some cases this aspect has proven its success, there are equally some other cases where it has failed miserably. Speaking on the same, veteran actress, late Suchitra Sen’s granddaughter, Raima Sen revealed how despite having the identity of being the third generation of the iconic actress, it has never been able to save her from battling her own share of struggles. Opening more on the constant pressure to perform well, Raima, in an interview with Zoom Digital, had mentioned:
“They think you are Suchitra Sen's granddaughter, acting must be in her blood. It is not like that. I never had any formal training. Of course, first breaks are easy and many people do not make it after their first movie. It depends on your luck and your stars.”

Raima Sen has indeed made her own mark in not just the Bengali film industry, but has also made some stunning performances in the Hindi film industries. Films like Parineeta, Chokher Bali, Dus, Dwitiyo Purush, The Bong Connection, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd among so many others, have been a befitting proof of her acting chops. Nevertheless, she has always believed that in the case of star kids like her, there is always this necessity to prove themselves just so more than their illustrious parents or grandparents, and the fact that they are needed to carve their own niche. In her words:
“The first break will be easy for any star kid. After that, it is the difficulty and you have to sustain and carve a niche for yourself. There is a lot of competition, which is cutthroat. There is more pressure and expectation on a star kid to perform than on a newcomer."
Well, not just Raima’s grandmother, but in fact, her mother, Moon Moon Sen has been a phenomenal actress of her times. Despite her short filmography of works, nevertheless, she has worked on some of the most amazing films. And so, when it comes to the third generation of Sen women to shine bright with their acting skills, both Raima and her sister, Riya has done an amazing job. In an interview with Hindu, Raima once spoke about the influences of her mom and grandmother’s acting on her career and mentioned:
“I've always subconsciously wanted to get into acting. Because I saw my mother. I used to go with her. I have done some work with my mother and grandmother as a child artiste."

As aforementioned, Raima Sen happens to be the third-generation actress of her family, and quite befittingly, she has carried herself with grace and proven her talents manifold. Once in an interview, Raima revealed the perks and limitations of the identity that she carries because of her actor family and mentioned:
“Initially, when I entered films, there was too much of expectation and pressure because I was Suchitra Sen's granddaughter, Moon Moon Sen’s daughter. Will I be able to live up to the reputation of my grandmother was the question. Till Chokher Bali, I felt I was under the scanner. Only after that, I became Raima Sen. In Bengal, they feel I look like my grandmother. So, in my photoshoots and also in my films, they try and do my eye make-up accordingly, so I resemble her. They even approached me to do the biopic of my grandmother. In Bengal, the comparison will always be there. But it’s become kind of a blessing now. I am happy to be compared to my grandmother."
