In a recent interview, Raj Kundra opened up about certain unknown anecdotes from his life. He revealed his wife, Shilpa Shetty's suggestion during his detention to many more.
Raj Kundra is all set to make his acting debut in his upcoming biopic, UT 69, which is set to release on November 3, 2023. The film would majorly focus on his experience of the Arthur Road jail stay. For the unversed, Raj had spent two months in Arthur jail in connection with his pornography case. Now that Raj is busy promoting his upcoming film, he is also constantly opening up about many unknown facts about his life, which are simply unmissable.
In a recent interview with Indianexpress.com, Raj Kundra opened up about the humiliation and damage to his reputation, he had faced when he was in jail. However, at this critical time, his supportive wife, Shilpa suggested him about moving abroad. He revealed how much Shilpa's support was helpful to him. But Raj was also adamant that he would not leave the country until he got a clean chit. Talking about the same, he said:
“My wife was actually the first person to say, ‘Do you want to live abroad Raj? You left everything in London, you were born and brought up there, you moved here because I wanted to be here. But if you want, I can make things work and let’s leave the country, let’s go abroad.’ I told her that I love India and won’t leave. Log bade bade kaand kar ke, hazarao crore kamake desh se nikal jaata hai, but I have done nothing so I won’t leave the country.”

In the same conversation, Raj mentioned that even though his family was with him, he could easily understand what his wife, kids and parents were facing outside. The same humiliation was also taking his life behind bars, and thus, he was also once on the verge of 'ending things' in jail. Elaborating more on the painful experience, he shared:
“I had really broken down, enough to probably end things inside. I won’t use the word, but I was in a… There was so much humiliation, reputational damage. Because of me, media went behind my wife, children and parents. That was painful. I knew what was going on outside."

Earlier, during the trailer launch of his debut film, UT 69, Raj revealed how Shilpa reacted to his decision to make a film. The businessman shared that his wifey was a bit dicey about his idea of making a film on his jail stay. Raj also jokingly added that a flying chappal came at his face when he told Shilpa about the same. Later, when the director of Raj's biopic, Shahnawaz Ali narrated how things would be shown onscreen to Shilpa, she gave it a thought and supported it throughout.
