Rakesh Roshan opened up about Ajay Devgn turning down 'Krrish 3', after rejecting Karan Arjun. Here's what he had to say about the same.
Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, and Vivek Oberoi's Krrish 3 was released on November 1, 2013. The Rakesh Roshan-directed movie was a hit. However, do you know that Vivek Oberoi's antagonist role was first offered to Ajay Devgn? The actor declined the role offered by Rakesh Roshan. Ajay also rejected the role offered by Rakesh in Karan Arjun.
During an interview with News 18, director Rakesh Roshan opened up about thinking of Ajay Devgn's role in Kaal and had decided to give him the role of a villain in Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3. However, Ajay was not convinced about the role. He had declined, saying that he could not play the role of an antagonist. Rakesh had envisioned Ajay as the villain in Krrish 3. However, the project idea did not culminate. Rakesh had quipped:
"We never got a chance to work together. I couldn’t make a film in which I could cast him. He’s a very fine actor. In every film, he leaves a very big impact. I want to work with him, but I am not getting a chance. I did go to him for Krrish 3 to play Vivek Oberoi’s role."
Going further ahead in the interview, Rakesh Roshan revealed that Ajay had told him that the storyline and screenplay were excellent. However, at that time, the actor was playing heroic roles, so it would not look good if his character as a villain met with an end. Rakesh revealed to the publication what Ajay had told him. In his words:
"Rakesh ji mere liye ye karna thoda mushkil hoga kyunki main bhi hero hoon. Mujhe end mein maare, acha nahi lagega. Aur aap toh compromise karenge nahi .’ I said, ‘Yeah, I won’t comprise, which is why I am narrating the whole script."
Ajay and Shah Rukh Khan were Karan Arjun's first choices. Rakesh wanted the duo for the reincarnation drama scene, but the film was completed with SRK and Salman Khan. However, a report by News 18 Showsha claimed that Ajay walked out of the film due to personal reasons. Reportedly, Ajay wanted to play the role of Arjun, but things had not panned out. Rakesh is all set for the re-release of Karan Arjun, which will take place globally on November 22, 2024. The 1995 movie was known for its dialogues, unique storyline and memorable performances by Rakhee, Salman and Shah Rukh Khan.
It was in 2013 when Krrish 3 was released, and Hrithik, Priyanka, Kangana and Vivek were seen in titular roles. However, during an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the veteran director confirmed that he would produce the superhero movie but would retire from direction duties. Rakesh quipped:
"I don't think so I'll be directing any further. But I'll surely be announcing Krrish 4 very soon."
Do you think Ajay Devgn made a wrong decision by rejecting Rakesh Roshan's Krrish 3?
