Meanwhile, Rakesh Tikait, the farmer leader, sincerely suggested despite his tight security, Salman Khan should go to a temple and beg for forgiveness. Only days after Baba Siddique’s murder, the farmer leader expressed that it would be safer for Salman to directly apologise to Lawrence, referring to the mobster as a ‘badmash aadmi’. Rakesh Tikait also explained that this issue has extended beyond Salman Khan and concerned society at large. In a report by Hindustan Times, Rakesh was quoted saying:

“Yeh samaj se juda hua mamla hai. Salman Khan ko mandir jaa kar maafi maang leni chahiye, nahi toh jail me band aadmi pata nahi kab tapakwa de (This is a matter that is connected to the society. Salman Khan should go to a temple and apologise, else you never know when the person in jail might do something to harm him).”

Salman Khan has remained a target of the Bishnoi gang after his name got attached to blackbuck poaching

Salman Khan was singled out by the gang of the mobster, Lawrence Bishnoi following his alleged involvement in the 1998 Blackbuk killing case. Salman allegedly hunted a blackbuck in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, while filming the 1999 movie, Hum Saath Saath Hain. He became embroiled in a huge legal dispute as a result of the charges. He was arrested, freed on bail, acquitted, found guilty, and then released on bail once more during the 26-year-long case. Responding to this lawsuit, Lawrence Bishnoi and his associates made open death threats to the actor.

Salman Khan has remained a target of the Bishnoi gang, having received some threats since 2022. Earlier this year, Salman’s home in Mumbai was targeted and numerous gunshots were fired outside Galaxy apartments. Amid the death threats circulating post-Siddique’s murder, the Bishnoi community allegedly burned the effigies of Salman Khan and his father, Salim Khan on October 27, 2024, over the latter’s ‘misleading statement’ on the blackbuck case.

Despite Khan’s repeated denial of the accusations, the Bishnoi community members are enraged at the actor. Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin, Ramesh Bishnoi once claimed that Salman had sent the community a blank cheque to settle the feud, but his offer was rejected as the community believes in values over money.

Rakesh Tikait’s appeal to Salman Khan

Rakesh Tikait, considering the individual and social factors surrounding the Salman vs. Lawrence Bishnoi rife, stressed the importance of Khan making a public apology. Given that the Bishnoi community’s grievances are deep-rooted in their values, Tikait believes that a public apology would greatly help diffuse the heat and restore mutual respect. This could also prevent further escalation of violence from the Bishnoi gang, considering what they are capable of doing.
