'Ramayan' Starring Ranbir Kapoor Annunciated, Filmmaker, Namit Malhotra Unveils The First Poster

Filmmaker, Namit Malhotra took to his Instagram handle earlier on November 6, 2024, and announced the release of 'Ramayan' in two parts, called the film 'A Noble Quest'.

Ever since the speculations regarding Ramayana being in the making surfaced on the internet, fans have been eagerly anticipating the official announcement. After a long passionate wait, filmmaker, Namit Malhotra finally gave the fans the first glimpse. The movie stars, Ranbir Kapoor as 'Shri Ram', Sai Pallavi as 'Mata Sita' and Yash as 'Lankapati Ravan'.

Filmmaker, Namit Malhotra unveils the first poster of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana

Filmmaker and entrepreneur, Namit Malhotra took to his Instagram handle on the morning of November 6, 2024, and shared the first-ever poster of Ramayana. The filmmaker shared that the movie will be made in two parts each of which will be released on Diwali in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

It took Namit Malhotra, 10 years to bring the project to life

Fans still have a two-year wait to see the epic on the big screens, as the first part of the film will be released in 2026. Namit in his Instagram post also shared that it took him over a decade to make this project come to life. Sharing the much-anticipated poster, Namit Malhotra shared that it was more than ten years ago he commenced his journey of bringing the saga that has been captivating hearts for over 5000 years. The filmmaker further added how his team has been working with the only goal to bring the most authentic adaptation of the epic to the people. Namit captioned the post:

And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our RAMAYANA--for people across the world. Join us as we fulfil our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence. Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027. From our entire Ramayana Family.”

Fans react to the announcement of Ramayana

Ramayan is not just a story but an emotion for most Indians. The reverence this epic holds in the hearts of people is unmatched and to get to see a project like this become a reality is beyond expressible. As soon as the poster was posted, well-wishes and enthusiastic comments started flooding the post. Fans showed their excitement and shared their delight about the announcement. One user commented:

Fans are eager for the details of the cast of Ramayana

The cast is yet to be officially announced but as per reports Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi will be playing the role of 'Shri Ram' and 'Mata Sita'. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Yash revealed that he will be playing the role of 'Ravana' and he is exceedingly excited about playing 'Lakeshwar'.

The film is not the first adaptation of Ramayan. In the past, there have been several TV serial adaptations made of the epic, the most popular one being, Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan. The Japanese animated version of the Ramayan titled Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is another immensely loved adaptation of Ramayan.
