The Kapoor family visited the PM House, to invite PM, Narendra Modi for Raj Kapoor's 100th birthday celebration.
The Kapoor family, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and others recently traveled to New Delhi. The clan was visiting the PM's residence to share the special invitaion with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Kapoors will be celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the legend actor, Raj Kapoor and they have decided to commemorate the filmmaker’s life and works with a nationwide screening of some of his most iconic films.
After the visit a special video from the Prime Minister’s Office was released. The video showed the family's special moments with the PM Modi, in which the family was be seen discussing the captivating era of Raj Kapoor. During the conversation PM Modi mentioned how Raj Kapoor had established the cinematic power of the country through his work during that era and how immense his contribution has been to the cine world.
To which, Ranbir Kapoor was seen recalling a funny anecdote that his bua, Reema Kapoor was sharing with the Prime Minister. Reema revealed an incident from Ranbir's visit to Russia. She shared that when the actor was visiting the country, he came across a taxi driver, who was listening to songs from, Raj Kapoor's films. Elaborating on the same, she shared:
"Ranbir ke sath hua hai. Vo gaadi mein baitha tha. Aur ek Russian taxi driver tha aur usne bola ki are you from India? And he was singing a song…Are you Raj Kapoor’s grandson? Tum batao."
In the same conversation, Ranbir Kapoor was further seen sharing that he told the taxi driver that he is Raj Kapoor's grandson, which has hauled him free taxi rides in Russia on several occasions. Hearing the annecdote, PM Modi was also seen sharing a laugh with the Kapoor family. Ranbir was quoted saying:
"Maine unse kaha main unka (Raj Kapoor) pota (grandson) hu toh hamesh mujhe free taxi ride mil jaate hai."

Alia Bhatt, soon after their visit, took to her Instagram handle and shared photos from the meeting with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The actress shared multiple pictures. The first one was a group picture with the prime minister. In the second picture, PM was seen with Alia and Ranbir Kapoor, the third picture was a candid from PM Modi's interaction with the Kapoors, while the family was seen sitting in the fourth picture. The last picture was a selfie taken which seemed to have been taken in a bus. Alia shared the picture with the caption:
"Art is timeless. And sometimes to move forward, we must look back and learn. Mr. Raj Kapoor’s impact was truly global. He marked his footprint all across the world with the movies he made, the stories he told. Yesterday was such an honour to be invited by our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, to spend a lovely afternoon commemorating the life and legend of Mr. Raj Kapoor. Merely listening to his stories, makes me learn so much, and his legacy continues to inspire."
