Ranbir Kapoor, who is all set to appear on the silver screen with his upcoming film, 'Shamshera', revealed how he wished to hear his father, late Rishi Kapoor's opinion about his performance.
Rishi Kapoor was one of the most loved actors of Bollywood. When he had made his acting debut with the film, Bobby, he had become every girl’s dream man. Just like Rishi Kapoor, his son, Ranbir Kapoor too enjoys a huge fanbase and could make any girl go weak on the knees with his dapper looks. Talking about the father-son bond, Ranbir had always wished to be friendlier with his father, Rishi.
It was on April 30, 2020, when Rishi Kapoor had bid adieu to the world, leaving behind his grieve-stricken family, friends and fans. The 68-year-old-actor was fighting cancer and had freed himself from the pain and had left for the heavenly abode. Since Rishi Kapoor’s death, his kids, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had become their mother, Neetu Kapoor’s strongest pillars of strength.

Ranbir Kapoor, who was last seen in the film Sanju in 2018, is all geared up to appear on the big screens with his upcoming movie, Shamshera. As Ranbir Kapoor’s fans are delighted to see him on the silver screen after three years, the actor expressed that his father, late Rishi Kapoor would have loved to see him in the film. Talking about the same in an interview with the Times of India, Ranbir said:
“I really wish my father was alive to see this film. He has always been blatantly honest about his criticism if he has liked something or not liked something, especially with my work. So, it’s sad that he’s not going to see it. But I am really excited that I got to do a film like this and I hope that somewhere up there he is looking out for me and he is proud of me.”
Ranbir Kapoor misses his father a lot and in an interview with News 18, his mother, Neetu Kapoor had talked about the same. Revealing that Ranbir still has Rishi Kapoor's picture as his screensaver, the doting mother had shared:
"Ranbir misses him a lot. His mobile screensaver still has Rishi’s photo. There are days when I see tears in his eyes but he stays strong."

In a throwback interview, Neetu Kapoor had revealed how Ranbir Kapoor had reacted when he had got to know about Rishi Kapoor’s health condition in 2018. Neetu Kapoor had shared that when they had got to know about Rishi Kapoor’s cancer, Ranbir Kapoor was travelling. When he had come back, she had made him sit and had explained the situation, which had left him teary-eyed. For an hour or so, Ranbir was in a denial state, but later, he had composed himself and had got down to deal with the situation. The very next day, he had gone to Delhi to pick up his father, and the two then had flown to New York for Rishi Kapoor's treatment.
Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film, Shamshera will hit the screens on July 22, 2022.
