The Chopra family shared the news through a statement on the official Instagram handle of Yash Raj Films, leaving the entire film industry in shock. Several celebrities took to their social media handles to mourn the demise of the legendary leading woman of the renowned banner, Yash Raj Films. However, it was her daughter-in-law, Rani Mukerji who looked inconsolable at her last rites.
Pamela Chopra's last rites took place on April 20, 2023, in Mumbai. Recently, we stumbled upon a video of her daughter-in-law, Rani Mukerji, going viral on social media, which showed her getting emotional. Rani was spotted by the paps outside Chopra's residence in Mumbai, and she greeted them with folded hands. The actress was teary-eyed as she couldn't stop her tears after losing her loving mother-in-law, and the video was heartbreaking.

Filmmaker, Aditya Chopra’s mother, Pamela Chopra passed away on April 20, 2023, at the age of 85. According to multiple media reports, Pamela suffered from Pneumonia and was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital for the past 15 days. However, she was later put on a ventilator, but her health deteriorated with time. Unfortunately, the playback singer couldn't survive in the battle and bid adieu to the world.
Rani Mukerji shared a cordial bond with her mother-in-law, Pamela Chopra, and the duo never failed to set goals. Once in an interview, Pamela reflected on how Rani had worked as a leading actress even after her marriage to Aditya Chopra, even when Chopra bahus didn't go on the sets after getting married. However, the doting saasu maa supported Rani Mukerji's choice and said:
“I don't have any problem with that. There was a tradition in the Chopra family that the Chopra women don't act or go on the sets. But in the face of love, you don't make such stupid distinctions."

Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra tied the knot in April 2014 after five years of courtship, and the couple became proud parents to a baby girl, Adira, in December 2015. In the same interview when Pamela was asked if Rani is the kind of bahu she had always wanted, she called Rani the 'perfect wife' for her son, Aditya Chopra. Revealing how Aditya changed for the better after tying the knot with Rani, Pamela said:
“I don't know about that. I can tell you that she is the perfect wife for Adi. Adi is a different person these days. He is so happy, always smiling. When he was younger, he would sing walking up the stairs; he has started doing that again. He danced at his wedding! (laughs). She has changed him for the better. And if he is happy, why should I not be happy?”
On the work front, Rani Mukerji was last seen in the film, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.
