Rani Mukerji addressed the long-standing distance she used to share with her cousin, Kajol until a few years ago.
Rani Mukerji and Kajol are two bonafide stars that Bollywood has witnessed, helming from the eminent Mukherjee-Samarth family in the film industry. The duo, is, in fact, cousins, started off their career in showbiz fairly at around the same decade. Moreover, they went onto carve their own blockbuster careers respectively, and have also co-starred in a few films together. Despite being cousins, Rani and Kajol were speculated to share a cold war with one another, for the longest time in the 2000s. It wasn’t until the massive Durga Puja celebrations of their family a few years ago, when the two divas met and seemed to reconcile for the grand festivity.
In a recent interview with Galatta India, Rani Mukerji opened up about the lack of communication and snapped equations she had with both her cousins, Kajol and Tanishaa back during the 2000s decade. The actress remarked that family has always meant much to her, since it is the only fixed identity which has stayed with her. Moreover, she added that differences is a mundane entity that keeps happening with everyone. But in the case of her difference with her cousins, Kajol and Tanishaa, it purely happened due to miscommunication and more of no communication at all. In her words:
“Family is one thing that stays with you, so it's important that the world sees you as one. Differences happen everywhere, but if there is no reason for differences, then why should the differences happen? In this case, it was exactly that. There was no reason, it just happened because of miscommunication and no communication.”

Previously, in one of her interviews with a leading daily, Kajol’s sibling, Tanishaa Mukerji opened up about reconnecting ties with her cousin sister, Rani Mukerji. She recalled that it happened when she learnt about Rani expecting her first child, Adira. Since Tanishaa would become an aunt to the then-unborn child, she somehow felt that it would be wrong for the little one to have no idea about the former. Adding how Rani would always remain her sister, no matter what, Tanishaa said:
“When Rani was pregnant, I felt I just cannot have her have a baby and that baby don't know me. I felt that so strong and so deep within me, I felt this is my sister as well. When you see other generations coming, you feel you should be there for each other, because a family is a family at the end of the day. Also, the way a sister knows a sister, nobody else does.”
Previously, during their appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan 8, Rani Mukerji revealed how she was extremely close to Kajol’s father and her uncle, Shomu Mukherjee.
