In a recent interview, Rani Mukerji opened up about her miscarriage in 2020 and expressed her pain over not being able to give a sibling to her daughter, Adira.
Bollywood actress, Rani Mukerji married filmmaker, Aditya Chopra in a private ceremony in 2014. The couple welcomed their first child, Adira, in the following year. Fast forward to today, Adira is 8 years old, but her parents have been keeping her away from the media glares. In a recent interview, Rani showered love on her baby girl and revealed the biggest regret of her life.
In an interview with Galatta India, Rani Mukerji opened up about her miscarriage, which was very traumatic for her. Talking about the same, the actress shared that she and her husband, Aditya Chopra started trying for a second baby within a year of their daughter, Adira's birth. However, she suffered a miscarriage when she got pregnant for the second time, and it was a harrowing experience for her. She said:
“Of course, it’s difficult. I tried for a second baby for almost seven years. My daughter is eight years old now, and when she was one or one-and-a-half, I tried for my second, and I kept trying, and I finally got pregnant, and then I lost the baby. Obviously, it was a very, very testing time for me. And also, I’m not very young, though I look young.”

She further said that she is going to turn 46, and she can't have a baby now. Rani mentioned that she is upset that her daughter, Adira, will never have a sibling, but she has learned to be grateful for what she has. Calling Adira a miracle baby, Rani said:
“I’m going to turn 46, it’s not an age where I can have a baby. It is traumatic for me that I can’t give a sibling to my daughter, and it really pains me. But we have to always be grateful for what we have. For me, Adira is my miracle child, and I’m really happy I have her. I’m working on that, and I’m telling myself that yes, Adira is enough.”
As Rani Mukerji graced episode 6 of Koffee with Karan season 8, she opened up about her and Aditya Chopra's decision to keep their daughter, Adira, away from the public eye. Speaking along the same lines, Rani shared that she and her husband want Adira not to receive any special attention so that she isn't treated as a very special kid at school and other places. Talking about the same, the doting mommy stated:
"Right from the time Adira was born, I have to thank all the paparazzi and all the media people; they really love me because they kind of respected that. They know how Adi (Aditya Chopra) is. It was our decision together that we didn't want Adira to be photographed because we have a different idea of how we want to raise Adira, so that she doesn't feel privileged or she doesn't feel very special at school, and she feels like any other kid. And she doesn't get any extra attention. That was something Adi and I wanted for her. That would only happen if she would not be photographed."
