Recently, Kannada actress, Ranya Rao's husband, Jatin, opened up about his decision to divorce amid her alleged involvement in a gold smuggling case.
Kannada actress, Ranya Rao made it to the headlines after being arrested in March 2025 for smuggling a significant amount of gold from Dubai. After her arrest, she admitted to smuggling gold and accused the authorities of mistreatment. Amid the investigation of the case, police have also found some connections to her husband, Jatin Hukkeri, and have been investigating him. But, it seems like Ranya's trouble won't decrease as her husband has recently announced his decision to seek divorce from the actress.
Jatin Hukkeri has been under the spotlight since Ranya Rao's arrest in a gold smuggling case. However, reports about trouble in their marriage also emerged in the media, but Jatin, an architect, was silent about it. However, he recently sat down for a chat with the media and clarified his stance immediately. Jatin revealed that he had to endure a lot of distress and pain during his marriage and intends to separate from his wife, Ranya. He was quoted by Times Now saying:
"Since the day we got married, I have been enduring pain and distress. Today, I have made the decision to file for divorce."
He didn't describe the exact nature of the issues between them, but the timing of his decision raised eyebrows. For those unaware, the investigators in Ranya Rao's gold smuggling case found that she took around 27 trips to Dubai and her husband, Jatin, accompanied her in some. Consequently, they have also turned their attention towards him. Its unclear whether he has been involved in the case, unaware or chose to turn a blind eye. Although no formal complaint has been filed against him, he is still being examined in the case.
When Ranya was sent to a 14-day police custody, the DIR officials also raided their luxury home to find out more proof linked to the case. During the raid, they allegedly seized gold jewellery worth Rs. 2.06 crore and a total cash of Rs. 2.67 crore. Previously, after her frequent trips to Dubai and other suspicious activities, she was arrested at the airport where gold was found on her. Now, the total assets found in the case, including the gold found at the airport, totals a massive amount of Rs. 17.29 crore. The amount makes it one of Karnataka's largest gold smuggling busts.

Jatin's career gained momentum in the restaurant industry, where he became popular for creating aesthetic designs and functionally efficient spaces. He founded WDA & DECODE LLC, Craft CoDe, and worked at Bangalore XOOX, Olive Beach, Delhi's Monkey Bar, and more. Jatin and Ranya married four months ago at a lavish wedding at the Taj West End.
