Rashmika Mandanna Finally Talks About Her Viral Morphed Video, She Pens 'This Is Extremely Scary..'

Rashmika Mandanna is extremely shocked and hurt after a 'deepfake' video of her went viral online. The actress first time talked about the incident and how technology has been misused. As soon as the video was circulated on the internet, people started scrutinising it, and several celebrities supported Rashmika, including Amitabh Bachchan, who demanded legal action against it.

Rashmika Mandanna talked about the viral morphed video

On November 6, 2023, Rashmika took to her Instagram handle and posted her side of the story. Rashmika revealed that she has been deeply hurt, and extremely scared of how technology has been misused. For the unversed, the viral video shows a British-Indian woman dressed in black inside an elevator with Rashmika's face edited using artificial intelligence, and it looks like the actress.

In her note, Rashmika further thanked her family, friends and well-wishers, who protected, supported, and raised voices for her. An excerpt from her long note can be read as:

"Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well-wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."

When Amitabh Bachchan came in support of Rashmika

Amitabh Bachchan made sure to support his Goodbye co-star, Rashmika Mandanna. He asked the authorities of India to take legal action against the deepfake video. Amitabh took to his social media handle, X and reshared a post by a used, who asked for the 'urgent need for a legal framework to deal with deepfake in India'. Reacting to the post, Amitabh penned:

"Yes, this is a strong case for legal."

As per a report in the Hindustan Times, the person in the morphed video is a British woman named Zara Patel. She has a huge following on social media, and she uploaded the video last month. A social media user, Abhishek, came in support of Rashmika and revealed that the said video is of Zara Patel and not Rashmika Mandanna. He wrote:
