Ratan Tata's father, Naval Hormusji Tata got married to Soonoo Tata, and together, they welcomed their only biological son, Ratan Tata, in 1937. The couple also adopted a boy, Jimmy Naval Tata, who lived away from the media spotlight for most of his life. After some years of their marriage, Naval H. Tata divorced Soonoo Tata and fell in love with a Switzerland-origin lady named Simone.
Naval Hormusji Tata and Simone got married in 1955 and welcomed a son, Noel Tata. While Ratan Tata never got married and not much is known about his brother, Jimmy Tata's family and children, Noel Tata's three children, Maya Tata, Neville Tata, and Leah Tata are in contention to be the heirs of Ratan Tata's empire.
For the uninitiated, Noel Tata is married to the late iconic business tycoon, Pallonji Mistry's daughter, Aloo Mistry.
