When Rekha couldn't stop blushing after seeing Amitabh Bachchan enact the monologue from 'Silsila' on stage.
The alleged love story of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha still rules the headlines. There is not a single moment when the spark isn’t evident when the two are spotted at a particular event. For the unversed, it was three years after his wedding when Amitabh’s name was linked to the vivacious Rekha, and since then, the name has been attached to him.
Though Amitabh Bachchan has always denied rumours of his relationship with Rekha, she has often given hints, making the story believable. Despite all these years, the saga of Amitabh and Rekha still raises many eyebrows. Cameras zoom in on the actress whenever Mr Bachchan is on stage.

A similar incident happened during one of the events, when Amitabh Bachchan spoke a monologue from their popular film, Silsila. As the actor mouthed the monologue with utter perfection, the crowd cheered and applauded him. Soon, the camera panned towards Rekha, who was sitting in the front row of the audience.
The gorgeous Rekha was seen blushing after Mr Bachchan completed the monologue with ‘haan humko mohabbat hai’. With her head bowed down, Rekha couldn’t stop smiling, and her reaction was caught on the camera. For the uninitiated, Amitabh and Rekha enacted the same scene in their film, Silsila.

Yash Chopra’s film, Silsila, was literally the on-screen portrayal of the off-screen love triangle of Rekha, Amitabh, and Jaya. When Yash Chopra shared his idea with Amitabh Bachchan, he immediately agreed to do the film, but Yash had wanted Rekha to play the role of his girlfriend in the love triangle. Despite his promise to Jaya Bachchan that he would never work with Rekha, Amitabh agreed to work in the film.
The casting of Silsila took many years as many leading ladies were approached for the roles opposite Amitabh. Yash wanted to cast Rekha and Jaya together with Amitabh, which was impossible, looking at the history of the trio. It took a lot of effort by Yash Chopra to even make Jaya listen to the script. However, it was the film's climax, when Amitabh came back to his wife, leaving his girlfriend, which made Jaya accept the role.

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan’s alleged affair is one of the most discussed topics. They met each other on the sets of Do Anjaane (1976), and that is how it all began. But the sad part was that Amitabh Bachchan was already married to Jaya Bachchan when rumours about his and Rekha's alleged affair started pouring in.
Because of his marital status, Amitabh and Rekha’s relationship couldn’t attain a happy ending. Despite being the other woman in the relationship, Rekha’s unrequited love for Mr Bachchan never faded, and her eyes still lit up at the mere mention of him.
