Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan's alleged affair was the talk of the town back then. However, not many know that the duo used to go on long drives with Jaya Bachchan.
Rekha gave her heart and soul to the love of her life, Amitabh Bachchan, who was already married to Jaya Bachchan. Rekha never shied away from professing her love for Amitabh, and their romance made many headlines back then. Before this, the veteran actress used to be fast friends with Jaya in the hay days and shared a great camaraderie. Moreover, when Rekha moved into Jaya’s building at the age of 18, she would get advice from the latter.
If reports are to be believed, Rekha became good friends with Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan after becoming their neighbour. She would also accompany the couple on long drives around the city. A proof of the same is also mentioned in actor, Mehmood’s official biography, Mehmood: A Man of Many Moods, written by Hanif Zaveri. An excerpt from the biography can be read as:
“Amitabh and Anwar (Mehmood’s brother) were close friends. Anwar told me that he had often taken Amitabh and Jaya on long drives. The two would sit in the front seat of the car along with him while Rekha would sit in the back seat and they would talk through the journey."

Amitabh Bachchan is undoubtedly a global superstar and has worked with several prolific actresses of his time. He has acted alongside Rekha and Jaya in many different films. Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha worked together in several films, including Mr Natwarlal, Do Anjaane, and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. However, Silsila was their last film together. Meanwhile, Jaya and Amitabh were seen together in films like Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan first met on the set of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film, Guddi in 1971. The duo got married on June 3, 1973, and have been going strong since then. Amitabh and Jaya are parents to two children, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. They are also blessed with three grandchildren, Agastya Nanda, Navya Naveli Nanda, and Aaradhya Bachchan.

Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan had met each other on the sets of Do Anjaane (1976) when the latter was already married to Jaya Bachchan. The duo developed feelings for each other, and soon, rumours about their alleged affair started pouring in. However, their relationship never attained a happily ever after, and both of them went their separate ways. Despite being the other woman in the relationship, Rekha’s unrequited love for Mr Bachchan never faded, and her eyes still lit up at the mere mention of him.
