Renowned Folk Singer, Sharda Sinha, Passes Away At 72, Son Anshuman, Informs Fans Via Her Instagram

Legendary folk singer, Sharda Sinha, whose voice has graced Chhatth festivities for years, has sadly passed away at 72. Her son Anshuman, informed fans about the tragic news via her Instagram account.

Legendary folk singer, Sharda Sinha, whose heartful renditions have been played at countless Chhatth festivals, has sadly passed away at 72 years of age. The singer had been battling a serious illness since 2018, and things took a turn for the worse recently. Sharda's son, Anshuman Sinha, had regularly been updating her fans about her condition before the tragic news was shared.

Iconic folk singer, Sharda Sinha, best known for Chhatth songs, passes away at the age of 72

Sharda Sinha had been first diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, back in 2018. Ever since then, the singer had been fighting off various health issues. Sharda was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on October 27, 2024.

However, things really took a turn for the worse on Monday, November 4, when Sharda had to be placed on ventilator support. Her son, Anshuman Sinha, who had constantly been updating fans about her condition, let them know that she was in a critical condition. Sadly, on Tuesday, November 5, the hospital confirmed that the singer had passed away, stating her cause of death as a refractory shock.

Following Sharda's tragic demise, her son, Anshuman Sinha took to the singer's official Instagram handle to inform her fans about the tragic news. He posted a picture of his mother, Sharda doing a namaste pose and wrote a heartfelt caption that left fans emotional in the comment section. His caption read:

"Post By Anshuman Sinha. Your prayers and love will always be with mother. Mother has been called to her by Chhathi mother. Mother is no longer with us physically."

Chhatth puja, a festival celebrated with great pomp in Bihar and parts of North India, is incomplete without the soulful voice of Sharda Sinha gracing the occasion. Sharda's beautiful songs and music have played a much more important role than entertaining people. They have helped preserve the culturally rich folk traditions of Bihar, thus earning her a cultural ambassador title.
