Rhea Chakraborty finally broke her silence on the witch-hunt she faced after her boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput's death in 2020.
Rhea Chakraborty has been keeping a low profile since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in 2020. After the actor’s demise, Rhea was made the scapegoat of the entire controversy. The actress faced a lot of hatred and criticism, and some people also blamed her for the reason behind SSR's death. Now three years later, as Rhea attended a media event, she opened up about the witch-hunt she faced during Sushant's death investigation and hit back at the haters for calling her ‘chudail’.
During her appearance on India Today Conclave, Rhea Chakraborty opened up about her new version and mentioned that Rhea 2.0 is poles apart from the older one. She also shared that she likes the name 'Chudail', which people gave her after Sushant Singh Rajput's demise and revealed the reason behind the same. Elaborating on the same, the actress said:
“I kind of like the name Chudail. I think it is interesting. Back in the day, who was a witch? A witch was a woman who did not subscribe to the patriarchal society or had her own way, her own opinion that was against the popular opinion of men and patriarchal back then. She had her opinion and her own thoughts. Maybe I am that person, maybe I am a chudail, maybe I know how to do black magic.”

Further speaking about mental health issues, Rhea Chakraborty added that in Indian society, people fail to recognise the impact of mental stress on a person's life. She mentioned that though the young generation is quite vocal about mental health conditions, some people still don't understand how somebody can be depressed despite having the luxuries of life. In her words:
“The truth is that mental health is not understood in this country at all. We are taking strides, and I am happy that the young people are now talking about it. India is moving forward, but if someone is famous and has mental health conditions, they don’t understand it. They are like, ‘He has fame, he has success. Why is he depressed?'”
For the unversed, Rhea Chakraborty recently made her onscreen comeback with the show, MTV Roadies Season 19, as a part of one of the Gang Leaders. Further in the same interaction, the actress shared that the time she spent in prison was a humbling experience for her and added:
“Jail can’t be easy. It is interesting because you are removed from society and you are no longer a part of it. You are put in this place because you are no longer fit to be in society for whatever reason you are deemed to be unfit. You are no longer a person, you start viewing yourself as nothing. You are a number, you do as told. You are given a few moments of happiness in your life, snatch them. And that’s what I learnt from jail. I’m her to snatch it.”
