Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal bared their hearts out about their parenting journey. Here's the meaning of the little one's name, Zuneyra, along with cutesy anecdotes about her.
Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are one of the much-loved couples in the Hindi film industry. The duo got married in 2020, and it was in 2022 that they celebrated the same in grandeur. It was in July 2024 when Richa and Ali welcomed their daughter into their lives. While at first, the couple refrained from posting any social media posts, later, they blessed our eyes with an adorable glimpse of the tiny feet of their baby girl. In a recent interview, Richa and Ali bared their hearts out as they talked about their new journey.
In a recent interview with Vogue India, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal shared that their baby girl's name is Zuneyra Ida Fazal, whom they adorably nicknamed Zuni. For the unversed, Zuneyra is a pretty unique name, and in Urdu, it means 'Flower Of Paradise'. Amazing, isn't it? Well, talking about their little princess, Ali expressed his anxiety whenever he has to step out of home for work, thereby leaving their baby girl alone. Meanwhile, Richa revealed that she didn't read much into the parenting books, and rather, she just observes what works for her and her baby girl. In Richa's words:
"I avoided reading too much on parenting to prevent information overload because I feel it can get in the way of your natural response. When you work on instinct, you take a few hits and misses, but eventually, you figure it out. Your nurses teach you the basics, but you also learn that you’re born knowing how to suckle. So I never question the intelligence of nature and try not to interfere with it. I observe what works for me and for Zuni. So far, it’s paid off.”
Going forward in the interview, Richa Chadha talked about her postpartum journey and shared how this phase is challenging as it is mostly biological rather than psychological. She added how hormones fluctuate and how it becomes tough to decipher one's own thoughts. Richa mentioned that whenever she was moody, she reminded everyone not to take her seriously and asked them to tell her the same. She also revealed that sunlight, basic nutrition, and working out helped her in this phase as well.
In the same interview, Richa and Ali revealed how the parenting journey has changed them. While Ali is less excited about the 'race' of what will happen next, Richa has developed a sharp instinct for people who want something out of her, and obviously, she gives lesser people the opportunity to drain the same. Ali shared that after Zuni was born, nature was also in sync with it, as they noticed that birds were nesting, butterflies were showing up, and more, and it felt energetic to the newbie parents. Talking more about the same, Ali mentioned:
"Just before Zuni was born, we suddenly started noticing birds nesting right around our house. Butterflies began showing up, and every morning, like clockwork, we had migratory birds coming in. It feels like there’s an energy vortex in certain spots. Perhaps it’s a sign that something we’ve done is in sync with nature. Richa and I have always been free-spirited, taking off with our bags and living as distinct individuals. But now, it feels like an anchor has been dropped in the middle of it all."
In the concluding segment of the interview, Richa Chadha shared that only a year ago, she was firmly against having a child, and climate change was a big reason behind the same. Richa stated that Dia Mirza had sent her several baby items from the time she was pregnant, and not just her, Soha Ali Khan also provided her with some parenting books. Talking more about the same, Richa shared:
"A year ago, I was firmly against having a child, and climate change was a very big reason. This is the hottest year we’ve had, and likely the coolest year you and I will experience going forward. Eco anxiety is a real thing for people like me who lie awake thinking about it. Dia Mirza, a really good friend of mine, actually lives her truth. Many of the baby items in my home are from when she was pregnant. The books are gifts from Soha Ali Khan and my prenatal yoga instructor. There’s a wonderful community of women who may not make a big fuss about it, but they’ll say, ‘I’ve kept this for you,’ and then you pass it on too.”
