Now, the dilemma is whether to tie the knot or postpone till the time, things get back to normal. While many are stern to get married with few closed ones, some are happily postponing it. And Bollywood couple, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, who was supposed to tie the knot in April, are from the latter category.
On June 22, 2020, Richa took to her Instagram handle and finally vent out her grief of not being able to tie the knot because of the pandemic. The actress shared a meme from her film, Gangs of Wasseypur, wherein her character, Nagma Khatoon, is sitting quietly during her nikaah. The qazi repeatedly asks her if she agrees to her wedding with Manoj Bajpayee’s character, Sardar Khan, but she doesn’t utter a word. She captioned the post as "#8YearsOfGangsOfWasseypur 2020 saw me postponing my shaadi, rightly so, cuz this is such an unpredictable, manhoos year! Here’s some #NagmaSwag for you, from the film that started it all for me! Enjoy. #NagmaKhatoon #GangsOfWasseypur #ActorsLife #richachadda #GangsOfWasseypur #AKFPL".
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Ali Fazal had opened up on the reason for postponing the wedding. He had said, "It has been delayed until further notice. I think we will celebrate with the world when everything is open again. We have something to celebrate... some good news hopefully, that everyone will get and we’ll make sure to bring that along with our wedding. Until then, we’re following all the rules of the lockdown and awaiting the next steps." This year is actually 'manhoos' for the couple as Ali Fazal's mother had passed away in Lucknow, and the actor is still not able to accept the harsh truth. Richa had penned a heartfelt note for her which could be read as "Love at a dead-end is grief... RIP! Aunty, you left us yesterday... but you will always be around... I will always remember you as a lady ahead of her time... a voracious reader, feminist and cupcake lover. I promise to take care of your son... hope you find your peace... And I miss you already! Rest in peace Aunty, I am grateful that I got to know you! Ali, be brave. She wouldn’t have liked to see you sad! 2020, this better be the last remembrance msg I write! Rest in peace Aunty."
