Recently, Richa and Ali successfully ventured into the world of production with their first film, Girls Will Be Girls, which premiered on December 18, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. For the same, the couple have been quite busy promoting their production debut, and the film has already been making waves for its unique storyline. Recently, during their film’s promotion at the fifth edition of SCREEN Live at IIT Delhi, Richa and Ali opened up about battling hopelessness. Richa Chadha left everyone in splits when she admitted:

“I have this point every six months to give up and start again.”

When Richa opened up, Ali chimed in with a simple yet powerful response which deeply resonated with audiences. Ali quipped: 

"You have to be relentless."

During the conversation, Ali Fazal shared how he and Richa had to rely on personal savings and creative collaborations to bring Girls Will Be Girls to life. Talking about the power of jugaad, Ali said:

“We are all from a country that is famous for its jugaad, its ability to figure out a way to get things done. Honestly, we asked for money from here and there, and even broke our FDs to fund Girls Will be Girls. But we managed. Now, it is getting a nice release, and many sections of the audience are watching it. It is possible.”

Girls Will Be Girls is the first work of Richa and Ali’s production house, Pushing Buttons Studios. It is a coming-of-age Indo-French drama set in a Himalayan boarding school. The film also marks the debut of newcomer leads, Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron. The film has already garnered accolades from international festivals, including Cannes and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
