Contrary to what her Kapoor siblings had chosen, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had opted for a different career path than acting and with her passion for creativity, created a niche for herself as a designer.
It has been years and the discussion around nepotism still continues in our society and on social media. Amongst all the professions, Bollywood is in the limelight for promoting nepotism and for the past year, we have heard and read about the experiences, understanding both sides of the coin. After a lot of celeb kids, late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni addressed the issue of nepotism or rather the 'advantage' she has because of her surname.

Contrary to what most of her Kapoor siblings had chosen, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had opted for a different career path than acting and with her passion for creativity, created a niche for herself as a designer. Riddhima owns clothing and jewellery labels as she has always aspired to do something in the creative field. Despite being born in the prominent Kapoor family of Bollywood, Riddhima had her own fair share of struggles, ups and downs in her career and in making a name for herself as a designer.
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had moved to Delhi post her wedding with businessman, Bharat Sahni and while her brand production is in Mumbai, she manages work from distance. In an interview with ETimes, Riddhima was asked if she feels having an advantage being a star kid. To which, she retorted, "Advantage kya hota hain (What's advantage)? We have grown up with the name and have got used to it. Besides, you might get a lot of eyeballs due to your family name when you are starting a brand, but later the brand speaks for itself. If I were to become an actress, I'd be told that it was a given since my family is into films."
Speaking of her cousins, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, and her brother, Ranbir Kapoor, who have let their talent-based work speak for itself, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni continued, "Ranbir, Karisma, Kareena are star kids but their work has spoken for itself; their success comes purely from their talent. They are superstars only because they are great at what they are doing. Whether you do acting or fashion or anything else, even a star kid has to have to do something in life. People are going to talk irrespective of what you do, the best you can do is do your job and let it do the talking."

In an interview with Magzter, when Riddhima Kapoor Sahni was asked how does it feel to carry forward her star family's legacy, she had retorted, "So, I chose a completely different line which is jewellery designing and fashion which is totally different from Bollywood and acting. I always aspired to do something in the creative field. So, if that is what’s carrying the legacy, I am very proud of it and whatever I have done till now has received an overwhelming response. I am pretty content with that."
Revealing why she had chosen to become a designer and not joining Bollywood, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had spoken about her journey. She had said, "As I said, with me I have always been on the creative side and wanted to do something different from movies. So, when I was about 17, I left for London and I did my Bachelors in designing and marketing. Later when I came back, I decided to do something out of the box but I was still inclined towards the creativity and that's what I finally did. Also, so far, the journey has been very good for me, touchwood. There has been an overwhelming response by a lot of people, whether it's Sam and Friends, my clothing line or my jewellery line. We have been through a lot of ups; downs like any other business but so far it's been fruitful for me."
