Throwback Video Of Rishi Kapoor Being Emotional Seeing Son Ranbir Kapoor's Transformation In 'Sanju'

Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor had shared a very formal bond with each other. We recently stumbled upon a video of Rishi 'ji' being emotionally triggered seeing the trailer of ‘Sanju’.

They go back to the times when they held their little one in their arms and within a blink of the eye, here they are, standing shoulder to shoulder with them. One such father-son jodi is Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. Before moving ahead with the story, let us take a look at Ranbir relationship with his father, Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir had never shared a close bond with his father and had wished to be friendlier with him. In a throwback interview with Rajeev Masand, Ranbir had revealed that as a kid, he was petrified of his father. When Rishi ji would ask him to eat his vegetables, Ranbir would start crying. He had also revealed that when he had made his acting debut, he had dreaded his father, Rishi ji’s reaction.

On April 30, 2020, the nation had woken up to the shocking news of Rishi Kapoor’s death. The veteran had left for the heavenly abode leaving behind wife, Neetu Singh and children, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Since then, we are witnessing throwback pictures and videos of Rishi ji, making us teary eyed. Scrolling through social media, we have stumbled upon a throwback video of Rishi ji being emotionally triggered seeing the trailer of son, Ranbir Kapoor’s film Sanju. In the video, Rishi ji looked shocked with the transformation that Ranbir had gone through for the role of Sanjay Dutt in the biopic. The emotional father had sworn on Neetu and Ranbir and had said that he didn’t realise that it was Ranbir and had thought it was Sanjay Dutt himself. Being emotional and proud at the same time, Rishi ji had recorded a message for Ranbir, praising his performance.

In 2017, when Rishi ji had launched his biography, Khullam Khulla, it was his son, Ranbir, who had expressed his desire to be friendlier with his dad. He had written, “I am closer to my mother. I feel that Dad modeled his relationship with me on the one he shared with his own father. And it is true that I have never crossed a certain line with him. But there is no sense of loss or vacuum here. Ranbir had also expressed his love for his father. He had written, “I love my father dearly and have immense respect for him. I'm inspired by him and never want to let him down. I know he has only my best interests at heart. He also takes care of the financial side of my work. So we are more connected now. His confidence in me and my work makes me take pride in it. I persevere that much harder because of this. His belief and his encouragement are important to me."

In a 2015 Mumbai Mirror interview, Rishi Kapoor had revealed that he is proud of his son, Ranbir Kapoor for fostering a respectable image among his peers and had given the credit to his wife, Neetu Kapoor. Rishi ji had remarked, “I’m told, and I’m very proud of it, that Ranbir is very well behaved, polite, down to earth, decent, cultured, well spoken, warm, and respects his elders. The credit for all this goes entirely to Neetu. I was diametrically opposite when I was his age, being arrogant and brattish, but what the hell? It was 1974, I was being paid a salary of Rs 5 lakh a month and half the world was crazy about me.
