Not many know that before getting married to Neetu Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor was in a serious relationship with Yasmin, but they parted ways on a sour note.
Late Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor is one of the finest actors of his time. He not only won hearts with his jaw-dropping performances in hit movies of the 1970s and 80s, but he stayed relevant till his last breath. Rishi Kapoor's film, 102 Not Out, starring Amitabh Bachchan, was loved by viewers of all generations. Apart from his amazing career, Rishi Kapoor's love story with Neetu Singh (now Kapoor) is loved by millions. However, few know that Neetu Singh wasn't Rishi Kapoor's pehla pyaar.
It was in 2017, when the legendary actor, Rishi Kapoor, published his memoir, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, which gave insights into his life. It was the first time when Rishi Kapoor opened up about his first love, Yasmin, before falling in love with Neetu Singh. In the book, Rishi shared that he was deeply in love with Yasmin at that point in time.

In the book, Rishi Kapoor revealed it was his linkup with Dimple Kapadia that broke his relationship with Yasmin Mehta, who was a Parsi. The actor had shared that Stardust had published a story about his linkup with Dimple, and it became the major reason for his break-up. However, Dimple wasn't affected by it as she was already getting married to Rajesh Khanna. He had written:
"By the time Bobby was released in 1973, Stardust, which was the most popular magazine of its time, published a story about a budding romance between Dimple and me. Dimple, who by this time was already married to Rajesh Khanna, was not greatly affected by it. But it put an end to my relationship with Yasmin, I tried hard to get her back in my life, but she did not agree."
However, Rishi Kapoor rose to fame with the success of his film, Bobby, which made him arrogant. The superstar admitted that his then-girlfriend, Yasmin, sensed that he had changed, and so she decided to part ways with him. After the bitter break-up, Rishi left for his film's shoot, and the actor revealed that he would often persuade Neetu to call Yasmin and persuade her to talk to him again. He had written:
"Immediately after our break-up, I had gone for an outdoor shoot for Zehreela Insaan, to Chitradurga in Karnataka, where I used to get drunk and make my co-star Neetu Singh (whom I later married) telephone Yasmin and try to cajole her into talking to me."
In the same book, Rishi Kapoor revealed that he had met Yasmin after his break-up when he had gotten in terms with it. He revealed that Yasmin tied the knot with a dear friend of his, and his wife, Neetu was always cordial with her. However, her untimely death left the superstar deeping saddened. The excerpt from the book can be read as:
"I met Yasmin on a few occasions after that, but by then I had come to terms with our break-up and handled myself with a lot more dignity. She later married a very dear friend of mine. Neetu was always very cordial with her and her untimely death a few years ago saddened me greatly."
Earlier, when Neetu Kapoor graced the stage of Indian Idol 12, she revealed that her late husband, Rishi Kapoor, had proposed to her via telegram. Yes, the veteran star shared that Rishi was in Paris while she was in Kashmir for a project, and suddenly, she received a telegram from him, in which he had written that he missed her and loved her.
Well, Rishi Kapoor has lived a glorious and fulfilling life. He passed away in 2020 after he gave a tough battle to cancer for two long years.
