But, things didn’t end there; veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor sent his fans into a frenzy after he announced that he was leaving the country for a medical reason. The media mills started making rumours around his health. However, Rishi Kapoor’s wife, Neetu Kapoor’s cryptic New Year wish on Instagram sent their fans into a state of shock. She shared a picture of Kapoor clan and along with it, she wrote, “Happy 2019. No resolutions only wishes this year !!! Less pollution traffic!! Hope in future cancer is only a zodiac sign !!! No hatred less poverty loads of love togetherness happiness n most imp. Good health.” And this one sentence dropped the major hint on Rishi Kapoor’s illness and got everyone back home thinking if he was diagnosed with cancer.
But after months of silence, Rishi Kapoor has finally opened up about his treatment and recovery. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the actor is on the path of recovery and has put his hectic work aside. Rishi said, “My treatment is on, hopefully I will recover soon and God willing I will return. The procedure is long and tedious and one needs immense patience which unfortunately is not one of my virtues”. Rishi further said that he is not thinking of work anymore and want to refresh his mind. He was quoted as saying, “Thankfully, I am not thinking about films anymore, just want to be blank and refresh myself with a more relaxed mind. This break shall be therapeutic for me”.
Earlier, Randhir Kapoor spoke in length about his brother’s health with HT Times. And this time, he neither denied nor verified anything about veteran actor’s medical condition. He said, “I don’t know much about it but this much I can tell you that [Rishi] is doing well, that’s all.” He further added, “Let people say whatever they want to. That he is doing is well is evident from the photo that I, too, have seen. He is having a good time with everyone and has stepped out to enjoy a good meal. He will soon be coming back to India. In another interview with Hindustan Times, Rishi Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor gave an update on her father’s illness. She said, “He’s fine, nothing to worry about. I was never worried anyway. He’s just getting his routine tests done, as he said on Twitter, after so many years of wear and tear. He’s getting everything done, so hoping for the best.”
Previously, for an interview with NDTV, Riddhima Kapoor talked about her father, Rishi Kapoor in length and said, “My dad is as honest on Twitter as he is in real life - he is a very straightforward and that's what's amazing because, in today's times, we need more people like him who are not afraid to speak their mind and are totally frank about certain issues, so kudos to him.”
For those who don’t, Rishi Kapoor loves his family more than anything but the actor had many times gone on record to mention his not-so-comfortable relationship with son, Ranbir Kapoor. In an interview, he had said, “I know I've screwed up my relationship with Ranbir even though my wife kept telling me about what I was doing. It's now too late to change it; both of us will not be able to adjust to the change.
