Robin Uthappa is one of the most entertaining cricketers ever who has been produced by Indian cricket. The former Indian cricketer was renowned for his explosive batting and hard-hitting shots. The right-handed batsman scored 934 runs in 46 ODIs, 249 runs in 13 T20Is, and 9,446 runs in 142 first-class matches. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Robin Uthappa has represented five teams, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings.
Regarding the trophies he picked in his career, Robin Uthappa won the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup in South Africa and was runners-up in the 2008 ACC Asia Cup. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Uthappa had won only two trophies, one with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and another with Chennai Super Kings in 2021. However, in December 2024, everyone left in shock after news of an arrest warrant being issued against Robin Uthappa made its way into the public.
According to a report in ANI, Robin Uthappa is the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Private Limited, is accused of defrauding government and employees by deducting PF contributions from salaries but not depositing them into employee accounts. Uthappa's company allegedly owes a massive sum of Rs. 23.36 lakh in damages, which authorities are set to recover from the ex-cricketer. Not only this, but the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Shadakshiri Gopala Reddy, issued a letter in which he directed Pulakeshi Nagar Police to arrest Robin Uthappa.
For the uninitiated, when Karnataka Police went to Robin Uthappa's residence with the arrest warrant, the cricketer wasn't residing at that given address. Amidst all the chaos, The Hindu reported that former Indian cricketer, Robin Uthappa lives with his wife, Shheethal Goutham and their kids, Neale Nolan Uthappa and Trinity Thea Uthappa, in Dubai. As per Gulf News, Robin Uthappa permanently shifted his base to Dubai in 2023. Well, not everyone knew that Uthappa had shifted to Dubai, and now that an arrest warrant has been issued in his name, no wonder things have messed up.
Talking about Robin Uthappa's personal life, he is married to former Indian tennis player, Shheethal Goutham. Not everyone is aware of the fact that she has a career-high singles ranking of 591 by the WTA, which she achieved back in September 2001. The ex-tennis player won five singles and 13 doubles on the IFF Women's Circuit. As of now, she works as a life coach and a hypnotherapist.
Robin Uthappa and Shheethal Goutham met during their college days. As per some reports, they were in the same college, and Shheethal was Robin's senior, but the two fell in love and dated each other for the next seven years. Initially, Robin and Shheethal's respective families were quite unsure about their idea of getting married because they were from different religions. While Robin belongs to a Christian household, Shheethal is a Hindu.
However, after some discussion with their respective families, Robin Uthappa and Shheethal Goutham's parents agreed. Finally, it was on March 3, 2016, when they got married as per Christian customs, and a few days later, on March 11, 2016, they tied the knot as per Hindu traditions. The couple is blessed with two kids, Neale Nolan Uthappa and Trinity Thea Uthappa. We hope Robin and Shheethal continue to live a happy and blessed life with their children.
