Ranbir Kapoor's 'Heer' from the movie, 'Rockstar', reveals that she has Pakistani roots and Indian director, Imtiaz Ali invited her to India to make a career in acting.
Nargis Fakhri is one of the prettiest actresses of B-town who has impressed everyone with her acting chops and sartorial choices. The actress gained much love and appreciation from the audience after she essayed the role of ‘Heer’ in the movie, Rockstar opposite Ranbir Kapoor. After which, the actress did movies like Madras Café, Housefull 3, Azhar, Main Tera Hero and more. In an interview with Curly Tales, the actress recently revealed that she has Pakistani roots and is a ‘mixed’ child.
Nargis Fakhri recently appeared on Curly Tales' YouTube episode, where she revealed that her father, who passed away long ago, was Pakistani. Her father met her Czech Republican mother in New York City. The two fell in love and had her in NYC. Nargis divulged that growing up in New York City was difficult for her as she was neither a total white child nor brown.

In the same interview, Nargis revealed that growing up in NYC was difficult as she didn't have any Indian friends nor had any Czech friends. Figuring out her ethnicity in a foreign land was more difficult because she didn't know her heritage. She could never fit into a category of ethnicity as she was never enough.
Nargis divulged that she had never dreamt of becoming an actor until Imtiaz Ali approached her. She added that an Indian assistant director called her after seeing her jewellery ad and asked if she was available for an audition for an Indian film. However, Nargis was not living in India at that time, so she denied the proposal. A week later, the same assistant director called her again and told her that the director, Imtiaz Ali, was going to Prague and asked if she could meet him there as he was still interested in casting her.

After meeting Imtiaz Ali, Nargis decided to shift to India in 2010 as the director not only offered her the film but also took the responsibility of training her as an actress. She revealed that Imtiaz Ali offered to assign a speech tutor for her to learn Hindi, which also helped her sharpen her skills as an actress.
