In a new interview, Sushmita Sen's ex-boyfriend, Rohman Shawl, opened up about his bond with the actress and revealed whether being recognised with her name affected his career.
Sushmita Sen's love life has always made headlines, and one of the most publicised relationships of the actress was with her former boyfriend, Rohman Shawl, which began in 2018. Despite their age gap, they continued to defy every barrier and were considered one of the most admired couples in the Industry. They parted ways after four years, but that didn't turn their bond turned sour. Instead, the two continue to remain friends and often appear together at events, which has received mixed response from the netizens. In a recent interview, Rohman revealed his views on staying friends with an ex and whether being known by the name affected him.
Rohman Shawl recently sat down for an interview with News 18 Showsha, wherein he was asked whether it's easy to remain friends with an ex. In his response, the actor admitted that it's not easy, but it can be made easy by the two people involved in it. He explained that he will always be there for anyone who needs his support as a friend. In his words:
"Every relationship has its own phases. If anyone needs me as a friend when they're going through something, I'll be there."
In the last few months, the joint appearances of Rohman and Sushmita have decreased. However, the former revealed that they share a good bond, and he has a special sense of 'comfort' with the actress and doesn't care about other things. He elaborated that it is not necessary for two friends to always spend time together because everybody is busy with their work, which takes up most of their day. Rohman said:
"If I need someone, I should be able to pick up the phone on that person. Woh comfort mil jaaye toh bahot badi cheez hoti hai, baaki sab chalta hai.”
When Rohman Shawl was dating Sushmita Sen, he voluntarily took a small break from acting, which gave rise to several speculations. But, in this interview, the actor revealed that he didn't think being in a relationship harmed his career because he was in love. Moreover, he was unaffected by rumours or speculations about him as his love became his safe space. He said:
"I know what I shared with the person. Usme problem kya hai agar koi kuch bol bhi raha hai? I've always been proud of the relationship. I was proud of being known by my woman's name. As a man, aap chhote bann jaate ho kya agar aap ko log kisi aurat ke wajah se jaante hain? I don't think so, and I don't think it's a bad thing at all."
Despite his feelings, the Azaadi actor feels that the media a big issue of rumours about their relationship where is not much to say or think about it. Rohman added that when their relationship began, he wasn't working. So the media couldn't write about him. But, as he has started working, he sees a change. Still, whenever someone messages him, it's always for work.
Sushmita Sen and Rohman Shawl began dating in 2018. They met on Instagram when he had sent her a DM. They dated for four years and often shared fitness videos with fans. However, after four years, in 2021, they parted ways and shared the announcement on their social media handles. Despite their separation, Rohman shares a cordial bond with Sushmita and her daughters, Renee and Alisah.
