National award winner, Bengali singer, Rupankar Bagchi may have never thought this far that commenting on the late singer, KK during his Facebook live video would put him under death threats. May 31, 2022, had been a tragic day for the music industry as on that day, Krishnakumar Kunnath or KK had taken his last breath while performing in Kolkata.
For those who don't know, Rupankar Bagchi had come live on May 31, 2022, in the evening and had talked about singers and their popularity among the audiences. There he had mentioned Bollywood singer, KK as well. And since then, he has been getting trolled and receiving nasty comments on the video. However, later at night, after performing at Sir Gurudas Mahavidyalaya college fest at Nazrul Mancha, KK had suffered from cardiac arrest and had passed away. Now, the netizens are putting Rupankar through hell.

Now, Rupankar Bagchi and his wife, Chaitali Bagchi are receiving phone calls and messages, full of abuse and death threats. It all had started when KK had taken his last breath, and the netizens had been blaming Rupankar for cursing him. Reportedly, they have appointed private security guards at their residence and have also lodged a complaint at the police station for security concerns.
For the unversed, in the live video, a furious Rupankar Bagchi could be seen talking about the Mumbai artists aggressively. At that point, he had commented on KK's performance in Kolkata. After receiving tons of backlash, he had deleted the video, but it was already trending on social media, and he was getting slammed. An excerpt of what he had said:
"I got to know through Facebook that the one and only KK was in Kolkata for a show and there has been a lot of excitement about it. I have seen videos of mine, Anupam Roy, Somata, Emaan Chakraborty, Ujjaini Mukherjee, Cactus, Fossils, Rupam Islam and others. I think we all sing better than KK, why do you not get excited about us? What is the reason? KK.. KK.. KK.. Who is KK? We are better than any K. All the singers I have mentioned are far far better than Mr KK. Be a Bengali, guys please."

Later, the Bengali singer had issued an apology note regarding the issue, even though the damage was already done. Many people from the audience have even suggested boycotting the singer. However, Rupankar had told to the media:
"What I meant to say was that people of West Bengal must be more proud of Bengali literature, identity and songs. I spoke in favour of retaining our culture. If anyone thinks otherwise, it is his/her issue."
