Indian actress and television personality, Sai Tamhankar is well known for her roles in Hindi and Marathi cinema. She is known for her flexibility and powerful performances and has made a name for herself in Marathi cinema. She has won eight Maharashtracha Favorite Kon awards, three Filmfare Marathi Awards, a Maharashtra State Film Award, and a Filmfare Award, making her one of the best-paid actresses in Marathi film.
The actress, Sai Tamhankar, has announced that she and her longtime partner, director, Anish Joag, are no longer together. Tamhankar wrote in a mysterious social media post a few weeks ago, sparking rumors of their breakup. She had also erased every picture of her with Joag. She wrote:
"I'm single by choice. Not my choice. But it's still a choice."
In an interview with HT, Tamhankar stated that she and her partner had decided to part ways, confirming that their split was mutual. She considered the situation's complexity and said that it was difficult but a necessary part of life. Sai Tamhankar wished him well, knowing that he felt the same way, and acknowledged the other person's importance in her life, saying that he will always have a particular place in her heart. In her words:
“Yes, we have headed our separate ways and it was a mutual decision. It was tough but it happened and it is what it is. He is a very special person in my life and will always be and I will wish well for him and I know that the other party also feels the same way.”
Tamhankar was married to visual effects artist Amey Gosavi prior to dating Joag. The pair got married in 2013 and split up in 2015. After that, Tamhankar and Joag started dating, and he produced a number of Tamhankar-starring movies, including YZ (2016), Girlfriend (2019), and Dhurala (2020).
Sai Tamhankar recently participated in the thriller series, Manvat Murders. When it comes to dealing with public criticism, the actress stated that she makes a clear distinction between her personal and professional lives and is fiercely protective of that line. In her words:
“I clearly see the line between my professional and personal life, and I'm very protective of that boundary.”
On the work front, the actress will be seen in Ground Zero alongside Emraan Hashmi. About her collaboration with Hashmi, Tamhankar said she believes he has been typecast, with few filmmakers appreciating his acting ability. She noted that it was a pleasure to work with him. Giving an update, she shares:
“It's in the post-production stage, and we have been hearing great reports, so I am quite looking forward to it.”
